  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What is the Cheapest EDC that you carry?

I carried a Gerber Ultralight L.S.T. ($15-$20) for at least 10 years on my keyring. It does a great job opening letters and packages even with 420HC steel. (And it opened a fair number of screws with its tip.)

I now carry a Leatherman Squirt ($35-$40) on my keyring. It does a great job cutting thread off my buttonholes, opening packages, filing fingernails, opening bottles, and dealing with screws. (By the way, the knife blade is perhaps the worst I own--with a huge burr on one side, but is so flimsy that sharpening is pointless.)

I carry bigger stuff when necessary (at minimum a Delica in ZDP-189), but my keys are always with me.

The lowest-cost knife in my EDC rotation is a CRKT Minimalist... nicely designed wharncliffe fixed blade with micarta handle slabs, for under $20.

Depends. 10$ CRKT M16-10KZ will do the basics. If I feel I want something heftier, the CRKT M21-14SFG.

Carry all of these regularly. I think they all came in under $25. Some of the best cutters in the world IMO.

yobbos1, can you ID the knives in the 1st and 3rd pics you posted? they're very cool looking and do they have locks etc..more info please! :)

Whatever my secondary knife is that goes along with my Sebenza. Usually a slipjoint. Maybe my Case Sodbuster. I've been carrying a SAK Super Tinker lately a lot too.

Sure. First pic is of a small and medium Douk-douk in carbon steel. These are slipjoints with half-stops, so no lock. They do however, have a very strong backspring. Made in France.
The last is a Higo nokami or Japanese carpenter's knife with laminated blade and no lock no spring either. The opening is done with the lever on the blade tang and thumb pressure keeps the blade open. IMO this is the world's greatest pencil sharpener tho good for lots of other stuff too. Made by hand in Japan.

Thanks yobbos1,

I found them to be very attractive. Can they be found online? I'm being lazy I know, I'll google them but I think they are cool looking. :)

Blue Alox Vic Farmer is always in my bag. Use it more often as a bottle opener than knife though heh
