I think there is a big difference. First responders carry their own unique rescue tools and military doesn't deploy with their slip joints. They have CQC knives.
There are different knives for different uses. Some people think a melon tester or a SAK will make a good fighting knife lol.
Look at karambits or punching daggers. You ain't going to slip on the blade with a punching knife. Is a punching knife like cold steel safe keepers meant for camping tools? Some of you I guess.
