Is this some sort of kiridashi-esque blade? or is it actually supposed to be some emergency arrowhead? I'm struggling to think of what this knife would be good for.

i use mine as a firesteel striker

IDK, but i have two of them with the sheath & pockets !!! LOL In all seriousness though, i can suggest an improvement. Drill 1 or 2 small holes in it towards the non-pointy end, so you can put small bolts/w nuts on them to SECURELY fasten them to/into a stick/branch. These would make an AWESOME small spear for fishing or small critter gathering.

Anything you can use it for. Improvise, adapt, and overcome. Just like any other peice of your outdoor gear, bug out bag, EDC, etc. I'm sure you won't use it for just one thing, because if the time and chance happens you'll use it for whatever works.

Great for using in a bow drill setup for boring holes. Makes peg construction nice and simple.

At 1/2 an ounce, it's about twice as heavy as a current sporting/hunting arrowheads, so it's a bit heavy, but medieval arrowheads were heavier also. This though, is heavy. I guess it's better than nothing, but it's probably better for spear fishing, traps and stuff like that.

I think these are completely awesome! That being said, IMO they are too expensive. At 13-20 bucks each there is no way I could justify buying these because the first time you attach it to an arrow and miss or the animal runs off you have lost it. If the price point were around the 3-4 dollar mark it would make a lot more sense to me and I would probably buy at least a half dozen to keep with me at all times. I just can't justify the risk of throwing away that much money.

Agreed

I got a good practical use for this to share. Anyone that has done a bit of spear fishing knows that it isn't as easy as it looks. They also know that in alot of cases, it isn't really hard to touch or poke a fish with the spear. The hard part is nailing the fish with enough force to impale it.

What I use the Esee AH1 arrowhead for is this. Take a stick and cut a hole in the end just deap enough enough for the AH1 to go about 3/8in in. Than use a small pebble or stick to secure it. It only has to be tight enough so it doesn't fall out. You'll want plenty of arrow shaft sticking out. Than tie fishing line, string, Kevlar thread etc to the arrowhead via the little hole in it and wrap it a few times going up your stick.

Now what do you have? All those times you could touch or poke a fish? Now you can catch them. The arrowhead goes through them like nothing and then it gets stuck and dislodges from the stick. Just pull the fish up. Since I descovered this.....I couldn't imagine not having 1 in a small survival kit. It is sooooool much easier than traditional spear fishing. I can stick fish with it from a half inch away with very little pressure. As long as i keep them sharp, it's so easy. It could save your life 1 day.

I like your system. I’ve thought of doing that with one of those big gold fish hooks that clip to you hat. Tie a line to it then poke a fish with it.

I like that idea too. I might just have to try that in the next week or so before ot gets to cold.
