What is the exact definition of Bowie?

i didn't mean to cause such a stir. From all my readings I am still to be convinced that anyone knows what the original "Bowie" knife looks like and that was my point. I have yet to see a drawing or whatever that says this is the "Bowie" knife - now there are many interpretations and generalisations but proof has to my knowledge not reached our shores anyway. I have seen information relating to so-called "bowies" as carried by others in the same era but again to my knowledge there is nothing definitive that says this knife was carried by James Bowie himself. And if this is the case it maybe nicer this way as everyone can keep their own image.

For the record, I never called Mr. Russell a liar. I only asked he help us substantiate his claim. My issue was only that he chose to condescend to us in his first post over something it became clear (after I twice followed up on his lead) he himself did not do. His last comments, later expanded on by Bob Bowie, would have been welcome a lot sooner. I apologize if I made this thread uncomfortable for anyone, it was not my intent.
