What is the fastest opening manual folding knife?

Emerson Commander would win this for the average user. I too, can open other folders using the thumbdisk, but this is not as consistent as the "wave" on a Commander. The more you practice with any knife, the better you will become.

As an aside to Mike's reply:

I've read the stories of Sal's ability, but at the Bladeshow in Atlanta, I was too shy to ask him to do this. I figured he got that request all the time...kinda' like asking a Southern Rock band to play Freebird!

Since the Emerson Commander is a right handed knife, how do you open it using the wave if it is clipped on your front left pocket?

Check out my pics

The Emerson Commander is scary fast.
The draw can be mastered with very little practice.

Okay--I know that this may sound like a crazy question/request..but I have never handled a Commander. Can someone please describe in details how the wave works. I am trying to picture it my mind and I cannot discern which way the clip is: tip up or down. If someone could drop some pics on for me (or us) I would appreciate it. I have wanted to handle one for sometime, but haven't had the opportunity.

Thanks--
David

PROBLEM WITH THE EMERSON COMMANDER:

I found this post from another knife forum:

Commander is the fastest but after you "wave" it for a while, the liner lock will move over to the right side of the blade. You will also be continually adjusting the pivot screw. Had them, sold them, glad I did.

I personally wouldn't characterize the comments as problems because:

1) Loctite in the pivot works wonders - I just did it to mine and it isn't loosening like it was before.

2) It's a freakin' linerlock - the nature of the beast is that it wears out (eventually) in this fashion.

Even though I'm with the crowd that basically distrusts/dislikes linerlocks for "tactical folders" (my other carry folder is a Sebenza), I still got and carry a Commander because of its other benefits (i.e. great ergonomic handle, speedy Wave opening feature)
