What is the hardest thing you know of a knife being put through?

Here is a picture of the damage in the coating, the result of a long and bloody duel against a mutant coconut:

I was thinking about it, and I realize now that was a problem of technique... I wanted to split a coconut in two to make a primitive torch, I should have used a saw, not a knife. The coconut was very dry, then very hard, and the small and spherical shape makes it very difficult to cut, and once you crack the thing, it traps the blade, damaging the coat.
It was stupid, but I was so excited with my new knife that I wanted to cut everything I found :)

About $20. But I am afraid that the government catches it and use it to make an evil army of mutant coconuts soldiers :D

Sorry for my english :o

The way I do it is (i) hold the coconut in my left hand, (ii) using the back edge of a machete, give the coconut a good whack right down the middle, (iii) using a flipping motion with my left hand, I rotate the coconut towards me, (iv) I then give it another good whack along the same line as the first (v) repeate 5 or 6 times until the coconut splits in two. I've also done this with the sharp edge of a dive knife successfully - but it's a bit scary. The trick is that the blade never really penetrates the coconut shell. I've never seen anyone try to saw open a coconut.

One of the earliest and hardest testing I have seen was done by NamViet Vo way back on Knifeforums (before there was a Bladeforums), he shot blades, hit them under presses, put them in industrial waste, etc. . He also did more normal long field trials, pass arounds, etc. . Lots of great info. He had a falling out with McClung (chopped one of his blades in half to make a folder), and stopped posting shortly after (he used to be a dealer). Lots of great info, too bad he isn't still around.

When your acquaintances think they have a God-given right to demand your Sebenza from you, to use as a screwdriver or pry-bar. :o

The very idea!

Thats why I carry a cheap knife now,Along with my strider GB.

Isn't there a custom maker that builds a fixed blade that will puncture 1/4" steel plate?? He uses a press or something, I think.
I'll have to check some of my old knife magazines.

Though I do need to pick up a Strider folder one of these days...

It's A great idea to carry A Knife that is useable(cheap), especially if you plan on carrying an expensive knife.

Worst I saw was Rob Simonich shooting his Raven Combat edge with a .45. A real bullet splitter.
As for me the worst I did was cut a galvanized 'swamp cooler' off my Mother-in-laws roof with my Severtech. It's A2 tool steel so I was using it as a cutting tool. :p

Cool! What happened?

I like that picture I saw of him hammering one of his knives through another bar of steel.
