All I can say is if 10,000 ...or even 5,000 were made we would/should see a lot more of them. But Bucks numbers are always a little suspect in the early days. Maybe the number was ordered but not all made? I know that's the case for some LE's.
I once tried to find early NS 112's patilurley Stag runs but only found Customs. Radiused frame varietys combined with different dot blades Stag and finger groves have great raritys.. It's a DEEP DEEP rabbit hole! What I think happened is lower sales of the 112 combined with Bucks ordering systems and parts inventory practices (that changed often..or not) results in few hard and fast rules for the 112. Toss in employee knives Customs outright deception from sellers or just mistakes (Does that Shieth go with that box?) means collecting 1972 to 2000 112's especially factory NIB knives... interesting.
