What is the knife you would die if you lost it

My Chris Reeve Umnumzaan.

I don't know what I would do.

The first week after I met my wife I made her a knife as a gift. This was in 2000 and I was working as an apprentice at a knife manufacturer at the time.

So the knife is hers technically, but it now resides with the rest of my collection. I would be saddened if it got lost. The rest of my collection is by current makers and easily replaceable.

I don't lose knives. Like other important items around the house, I merely stow them in secret places. One day I'll find that secret place.

I'd hate to lose any of them, but especially one my wife gave me... like my 710 from my birthday.

I am too careful with my knives that cost over 50 dollars to lose any of them.
Only the cheaper get clipped in my jeans pocket when I hike. Anything higher priced gets to ride in a belt sheath. It keeps them from being scratched up and being pulled out by the clip by brush.
So, yes I've lost a few cheaper knives, but they didn't bother me a lot. If I lost something worth 80 dollars and up I'd be pretty upset.

This is the only one I own that I wouldn't want to lose.
My mother and father gave it to me for Christmas in the mid 1970's ( I was 16 or 17). My mother always reminded me "how expensive" it was up until she passed away in 2001.
Most everything else I own can be replaced.

The beautiful stag on that makes it worth at least twice what it cost back then.

The only one would be the SAK that my Dad got me in Frankfurt, Germany almost 40 years ago, my first knife. None of my other knives even come close.

:D I'm going to use that next time I lose something.

As for the topic at hand, I don't buy knives I'd be afraid to lose. I buy them to use (no safety queens in my collection), so I expect to replace them over time anyway.

I haven't lost a Knife in all my adult life, But I would be pissed if I lost I lost any knife I own. I would be most upset if I lost positive control of my SNG.

None of them, I'm not that attached to any of my knives. There are several I would be disappointed in losing, but none I would die over.

The exception, as already pointed out, would be if I lost the only knife I had while in a survival situation. That would be depressing.
