What Is The Main Use Of Your RAT Knife?

RAT knives are well known as Survival/Tactical/Military/Police knives. I am wondering, what is the MAIN thing that you use your RAT knife for? (Please tell what model(s) also).

I am really curious as to how many of you use them mainly for hunting purposes (field dressing game, skinning etc.).

I use mine for bushcraft/survival type uses. I plan on skinning a deer with it next season. I have a RC-4. Great little knife! Rats are as good as Busses IMO. The RC-4 is the perfect all around knife. I just wish they had a magnum handle option or something to that effect.

I'm presently today only an RC-4 owner. And it's my absolute favorite knife, bar-none. I'm a big guy, but don't have bear paws for hands. Size L glove and the handle fits me perfectly. I'm a fan of the more compact type knives. (Guess that's why I've ordered an RC-5, LOL) Anyways, I've used it for basic knife duty. It'll handle camp chores and whatnot. It's so well balanced that I can't see any reason it wouldn't be of use in a hunting application. I've gutted more than my fair share of deer. Although I'm highly spoiled by a gut-hook blade, this knife would easily handle the chore. It's murderously sharp out of the delivery box and with a little polishing it could probably shave your morning beard. The size of the knife would make skinning an easy excersize as it's maneuverable. It's a great all around knife.

I use my RC-3 for just about everything when I have it on-hand (it rides on my backpack).

My Izula is always on hand and also gets used for everything. A couple of days ago I started a hole in a hearth board, batoned kindling and ate a chicken dinner with it all in the span of a few hours. :D

Not really a thing a RAT can't do. ;)

I have cleaned a wild pig and a lot of hare with my Izula and quite a few deer with a RAT3 so they work fine. They also get used for all the other bits and peices that EDC's get used fro. Both useful tools. Got a RC5 on the way from Knifeworks for heavy use!

We sell a lot of knives direct to law enforcement groups and agencies. I realize that we don't have a a lot of LE members posting here, but I would say that roughly 25 percent of our sales is to LE with another 10 percent of sales to military. The rest are sales to dealers and distributors.

We appreciate all of you using our knives!

And we appreciate you making awesome knives! :D

I use my RC3 and Izula for just about everything. I try to EDC both as much as possible, despite how it pisses my boss off. Like everyone else has said, I can't think of anything these blades won't handle. I've done food prep, opening boxes and packages, bushcraft, camping, and pretty much cutting anything in sight just because they're so much fun to use. And they hold a razor edge for a long time, even with abuse, so you don't have to worry about babying the blade.

I use mine mostly for woods bummin( RC-4 and just got a RC-3), and canoe trips. Soon I'll get an Izula for EDC.

35% of sales to LEO's and military say's alot about RAT's integrety
My hats off to the people that protect us every day and Rat Cutlery. Thanks guy's

Izula & RC3 get EDC'd to work I alternate between the two knives...
The RC4 & RC6 are my main outdoor knives, for taking on hikes, camping, fishing etc...
The RC5 get played with in the Backyard and may alternate between my RC6 as well.

If you mean, what have we used our RATs for more than anything else... I use mine to eat. :) I EDC an RC-4 and it gets used daily during lunch as well as all the daily cutting tasks.

RC 4 is my EDC blade, it get's used for anything that comes up from opening mail to preping food.

My RC6 is a common woddsbummin knife for me.

My RC5 and sheath are going to be turned in to a kit because it makes such a good platform.

Just used it to cut several slices of Summer sausage for lunch. :) This is an especially good sausage made with a liberal use of brains. Makes it much more creamy.

My rc-3 handles everything from splitting up firewood, cutting rope, and slicing open bags of mulch, to cutting bread for a sandwich, and slicing up pizza last night. Should be my main river and work knife this summer too. Sure is a versatile knife.

Sounds good, what brand?

No brand. Tommy, a guy I go pig hunting with makes it. It's one of his family's recipes. I've tried a few times to get the recipe out of him with no luck. He's real big on brains. Not too many people appreciate them anymore, but ole Tommys country folk and knows what he's doing. He gets some goooood corn wiskey too. :D

Haha, oh well, so much for going shopping! :D I know what you mean, most people around here aren't too big on them either, and it's a shame if you ask me....

My RC-3 does everything I need it to, it rides on my webbing when I am doing work in the field and when I am doing other stuff I carry it IWB and use it for everything from opening my post to, and I haven't had to use it for such yet thankfully, SD.
