Here is a question for you . Is there some kind of lug retainers in a semi auto such as the remington or is it just spring loaded with the spring being defeated by the force of the round going off .

I would guess that the Nylon 66 like most .22 semi-autos is a straight blowback design. As you said, the case is held in place by the inertia of the bolt and the resistance of the action spring.

Thanks for the info . Whats this about that you only take them apart once . Is it cause its hard to get them back together .

a royal pain in the a$$ to get back together. Any time I'd be in the local gun shop and someone came in carrying a paper bag the Smith would look up, "Oh....Nylon 66, huh?" He was usually right. My family used to all swear by the Nylon 66, we had about three of them that had been fired and carried quite extensively, and none ever needed to be taken apart for cleaning.

Slightly OT, but a friend of mine has a complete collection of Remington Nylons, bolt action, lever action,66,77, etc. Really neat to look at.

Man I didn,t know Remington went beyond the mohawk brown or black . This boys got to get out more !

When my boss gave me the Remington I had my choice betwen it or another 22lr that would have ejected the shells right in this old lefty,s face! Easy choice . I,m glad the nylon is easy to take care of . I only had one mis-cycle on me .(the bullet nose jammed on the loading ramp) . I changed brands and never looked back . Mostly what I do is lightly brush the barrel swab her out and put a light duty spray cleaner on the slide mechanism , wipe her down and then a light lubricant . like I said I,m not heavily into the mechanics of shooting . If she shoots where I,m aiming when I aim where I,m shooting I,m a happy camper .
