In your humble opinion...

I'm curious to hear! I just ordered a knife off the forum and I don't have it in hand but darn it... I think it (Northwoods Presidential) and the Fremont are two of the nicest looking traditionals out there.

For me and this is just my opinion I have to say hats off to the green Schrade+ 50 t as well!

Which are your pageant winners? *note this is for fun and light hearted so no heated arguments please! :D

For me, the red stag Northfield #72 mini-hunter is the prettiest factory knife of all time. Cut swedge, long pull, triple lined bolster and bare head.

If they would do a 73 or 15 tc spearpoint w long pull/swedge in red stag, that would do it.

I really like the color in that 72, looks like coal embers smoldering. The swedge on the primary blade of that jack is excellent!

This oughta be a fun thread! And yeah, there is no wrong answer. As they say, beauty is in the eye.

For me the beauty of a knife is in the overall "flow" of the design. It has to feel like a natural extension of the hand and it has to have soul. Handle material is a factor, of course, but doesn't make or break a knife on its own. Blade profile is probably more important to me. For example, I'm always drawn to clip point profiles but for some reason a spear point rarely does it for me.

One knife that I think hits all the right buttons is the Northwoods Madison Barlow clip point. It is a near perfect knife.

I have to agree about the #72. I have a #72 in OD Green Micarta and I think it's one of the sleekest knives ever. I love the size and shape of the blade in relation to the handles, and the pull is absolutely perfect for me -- nice and light.

The Schrade/Kious reverse Congress is right up there, in my opinion.

While the GEC Northfield #72 Lockback mini-hunter with red stag covers is nice (here's mine),

The GEC Northfield #54 Whittler with Orange Crush Perylic covers has it beat (here's mine)

At least I think so.

I think that 72 posted above definitely ranks up there...that is a great looking knife that really does everything well. The long pull, the stag covers, the way the blade sits in the frame, everything. I don't have one of those, but I do like it a lot.

My personal favorite is the #78 American Jack in blackwood. Great shape, lovely large clip blade, cloud shield, pinched bolsters...just a really nice package. I love how the blades sit deep in the frame but are still easily accessible, hits the sweet spot just right.

Here are two blackwoods...one on the left has some gorgeous coloration while the one on the right is pretty much a pure black. Both are great but I think I prefer the character of the one on the left the most.

The perylic goes great with that blade!! What kind of steel is in that one? Is it stainless?

It's 1095 carbon. The reason it still shines is that it's one of the knives I have that I don't use or carry.

I think the original Remington bullet knife is my favorite, even if the scales did crack at the thong hole.

man I really like the looks of those 78's. Never had one in hand but the specs and looks seem about perfect to me. While I like the 15's that extra quarter inch would be nice. On my wishlist for sure.

For me it's the ubiquitous Camillus 72 Carpenter's & Whittler's knife or one of it's clones. The heft is just right, the size is perfect, it does what ever an EDC needs to do, it's pleasing to the eye and it feels good in the hand. There are quite a few vying for second place and I'm glad I don't have to choose between a Winchester 2921 Coffin Jack or one of the Schatt & Morgan English Jacks or a Grohmann Mini Russell Lockblade R340S or a Camillus 33 EZ-Open jack in Rogers Bone or a GEC 33 Conductor or a GEC 48 Improved Trapper or a GEC 72 Mini Folding Hunter with a Wharncliffe blade. A choice like that just might put me over the edge. Thank God for my 72s.

I think my Pic out of ""a few Blades"" would be the GEC #72 & #73 W/Wharnciffe Blades as they are just the right size for the symmetrical placement & feel & looks for me on an all around above basic knife in all respects.!** There are others but these two take the top of my list by a long shot !<<<<
