What is the most you would spend on a production knife?

I've only spent over $100 once. I doubt I will do it very often. Most of my knives are 40-60 dollars.

I'm about to spend it on a used Cold Steel Laredo Bowie..167 and change plus ten bucks S and H.

I'd never pay more than $200 for a knife. And at that price, it would have to be a tactical folder that I could use as my EDC.

A few years ago, I came up with my own knife design. It was for a folder about the same size as a Spyderco Manix. The custom knifemaker quoted me a price of $400. (I was making a lot more $$$ back then). What he delivered was my design, at a much smaller size! Instead of a Spyderco Manix, I got something that was the same size as a CS Medium Voyager; you know, just a bit smaller than a Spyderco Delica....... I learned my lesson! And there's no way I'm going to give him some free advertising, by mentioning his name!
