What is the one "must have" knife?

Seems like a SAK is in the lead. How do you guys like the larger blade SAKs like the Trekker?

I have three different SAKs, and agree that they're the one-knife-to-have. For non-knife people I'd say any model with scissors is just about ideal, but wouldn't recommend one of the bigger ones. For me, being something of a knife person, I'd happily make the compromise of having the bigger knife with the locking blade and the saw.

Love that saw...

I also think that a Buck is an important knife to own for anyone who has more than four folders. Mine's a 110 that's older than I am, and while I don't use it often, it anchors my collection. Somewhat literally.

I have enough Opinels that I can toss them in different camera bags and forget that they're there until I need them. Or until I travel somewhere.

(But really, the One Knife To Own has got to be my CRK Small Sebenza Insingo.)

SAK = Knife everyone should own; pick your favorite variety. Mine is a Farmer or Pioneer.

I've had a Victorinox Hunter 20 years, and a (Victorinox) Mauser Officers Knife for 30 years. Great knives that have served me well. The Mauser was my EDC for years, and I've recently started carrying it again because the lock on the Hunter is a problem with the UKknife laws. Currently trying to get hold of an Alox Cadet in Orange, and intend to buy a Compact soon too. Had lots of SAKs over the years, and they've all been useful tools and something everyone should have IMO
