What is the opposite of a knife?

Whooo! What a fun thread.

I was going to propose epoxy, cordage, wire, or tape (as others did) but this discussion was way more fun. I like the swiss cheese on Mt. Everest comment the best, that's very zen. What sound does the swiss cheese on Mt Everest make? Think about THAT.

So, a lot of us walk around with a way to cut at all times. Makes me wonder why we don't walk around with ways to join, at all times. But who carries epoxy in their pocket or in a sheath on their belt?

But a knife whose handle is wrapped in duct tape, wire, or paracord is, in a way, the complete environmental-modification package: separator and joiner all in one.

If I were in a survival situation, or any expedient "modify the environment" situation, I think I'd want epoxy, cordage, wire and/or tape right up there with a knife and a flint.

Opposite of a knife is A gash?

Best compliment to a knife for "self defense" is knowing how to use your hands...

Best compliment to a knife as a tool, is a flashlight...

A knife is meant to cut or puncture, therefor the opposite of a knife is a dull knife.

I keep a small roll of 3M micropore in my kits. It is not only for first aid, it sticks really well to everything for a long time. Amazingly, even outdoors for over a year now.
A single glue gun stick with a lighter, paracord, a few zip-ties, couple of safety pins, thread and needle and a first aid kit with a tourniquet are usually in my backpack and/or in my wallet.

That being said, nothing compliments a knife better than a good pocket sharpening stone.

To much stupidity in this thread for it to continue... political memes, editing another members post outside of W&C, etc., we’re done here.
