What is the scariest, nastiest looking folder ?

Big spooky looking knives are cool and fun to carry but when I`m carrying my sheeple shocker,a Sifu,I always carry something a bit more socially acceptable in case I need a blade when there`s a crowd around.

This folder is not only scary and nasty but I posted it under the "Shop Talk" forum's Butt-Ugly thread as hands down winner.http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=314358&a=2334128&p=23781070&Sequence=1

I can't believe no one's mentioned the Spyderco Toad yet!!! Nothing scares me more

. The Pockit Hobbit scares me too..I've handled one a few times and almost draw blood opening and closing it..with two hands!

You could put nacho cheese sauce on it...

The Ryan Biohazard is indeed #1. The Sifu, Civilian, Vaquero Grande and Pocket Hobbit are all jockeying for the #2 slot.

It's a GOOD idea to carry a small non-threatening piece for office box-opening and the like to avoid freakouts. The people that really know me, know I carry Sifu1 and all they do is chuckle if it comes popping out.

Muggers are another matter. Seeing a nice spreading stain on their trousers is a wonderful plus.

Here is one of the nominees Tamishigiri made. Steve Ryan model 1. I think it's a contender.

I have never posted an unkind word on any forum, but after reading the post I was very tempted. I could not agree more with Jailhack. I always carry a small publicly acceptable knife (a delica and micra) in addition to a large tactical folder when off duty.
If you want to have your rights taken away there is no better way than to scare people.
I also second Mr. Mattis' post.

That being said I do carry a Sifu while on duty. I believe that the intimidation factor of the Sifu may prevent the escalation of force.

For some folks, all folders are scary. It may be a generational thing, and it may be a gender thing.

At the mailboxes place where I get deliveries, I opened up a box with a Chris Reeve Kathathu in it. There are three women who work there - one a bit older than me, one about my age, and one young enough to be my daughter. They all know I'm a knife nut who is not their enemy.

I had the Kathathu out - almost nine inches of dark-coated double-edged naked steel dirk or dagger, capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon which may inflict great bodily injury or death. And I had a small (2.5") elegant little gentlepersonly folder out, in the closed position. The young lady was comfortable handling either of them. Guess which one the two older women picked up and declared cool, and which one they both wouldn't touch.

Yep. They were both frightened by the folder, as if I had offered to let them touch a small non-poisonous snake, and they both picked up the big honkin' dagger and prounounced it cool.

Go figure.

Some folks are scared by my dress Umfaan. I've had people blanch at a damascus and pearl Hayes that I think belongs on display somewhere. But the Pocket Hobbit looks like it was designed to scare a bear. The REKAT gets my vote for just downright nasty and scary looking.

I'm with Jailhack.

If all you're carrying is a Civilian and a sheeple asks if you've got a knife - lie.

Has anyone mentioned the HALO 3? (folding knife, kinda ?)

Hey rickmos:
May you be blessed with peace, joy and love
for all your days.
Be safe and I hope that you do not get arrested for brandishing a dangerous weapon when you scare a "sheeple" by pulling out a large folder.
I don't like to be put in fear for my safety and I don't think most other people do either. Instead of scaring people I believe, as Mr. Mattis has written, that it is best to educate people, especially non-knife people (those whom you refer to as sheeple) in regards to the utility of knives as well as their beauty.
I have used knives to save lives, I pray that I never have to use one to cause any harm.
Perhaps you should visit the Chai Cutlery,
I think that you may learn something.
Again I wish you peace, prosperity and a happy life.
Chad

Chad, Jailhack, and James; I agree with you guys whole heartedly. Very good advice. It is definitely not wise to go brandishing a large aggressive knife around the general public. The average citizen, for the most part, does not share our enthusiasm for sharp objects.

Rickmos, I may be wrong, but your latest post seems to be a bit abrasive. If it was made in jest I apologize, but if not, I think you might want to take a look at the BFC Rules/faq's regarding personal attacks. http://www.bladeforums.com/faqs/faq-rules.shtml

Now, as far as scary looking folders are concerned, My vote is for the Emerson Rhino. Followed closely by the Civilian and Pocket Hobbit.

Scaring people is not that complicated. You should not need a knife for that. If a knife is necessary, than you really should not do it. besides, what's the fascination with scaring people? If You are forced to pull out a knife, use it and put it back into your pocket. Scaring someone is not a good enough reson to pull out a knife.

I think when rickmos mentioned "scaring the sheeple" he was being a little tongue in cheek. I bet there isn't one of us on this forum that hasn't bought at least one knife just because it looks mean and tough (or just plain cooool),that doesn't mean we intend on scaring people with it. I think this was meant to be a lightharted post. Let's not make everything a "politically correct issue"

Kingknives: you are right of course that the post was a light-hearted attempt at fun....if only those hypocritical knife snobs realized that the very existence of this website is enough to shock the "sheeple" much less my lil ole post.

I can appreciate where chad and the rest are coming from, but I viewed this as a fun post. If it were considered too extreme, one of the moderators would have closed it.

Emerson Rhino, Spyderco Civilian, REKAT Hobbit, Hawg Millenium series and a maker I just found and a knife I am in the process of buying - Reece Weiland's WASP. I will post a link to his sight when I find it.

Most curved and serrated blades get a reaction.
