What is the sharpest Emerson out of the box ? Commander ?

I agree with this.

My ETAC B was the stupid sharp out of box champ until I got my Iron Dragon. The Dragon is crazy stupid sharp. I was just looking at it the other night and it cut my eyeball.:D

That being said, (and I'm not fan boying, or trying to start something, just calling it like I see it.) I have generally found all of my Emerson's to be sharper than any other production knives out of box. Emerson's are usually the only knives I don't sharpen straight out of the box. The only exception was my new Specwar.. I actually had to reprofile that one.

IMHO, the factory edges on Spydies, ZT, and Benchmade's, are for the most part, not even what I would consider sharp. The factory edges on my CRK's were a joke. YMMV

Very interesting comments. Back at the time when I owned many Emerson knives, they were all sharp, but my Commander is the one I recall was the sharpest. Last year, I bought a CQC7 and it was barely sharp out of the box (though this is certainly unusual). It pissed me off and I sold it right away.

I'm going to get yet another Emerson over the next few days - looks like I'm getting a mini CQC15 so far. I'd prefer the Iron Dragon for sure, but my wallet doesn't agree lol.

Sucks about your 7. Could it not be sharpened? Any company can have a bad one slip through now and then. Like I said, when I got my Specwar it was a tactical butter knife. I reprofile do the edge, problem solved. Out of 10 Emersons I've owned, the Specwar was the only one that did not come razor sharp. This seems to be the exception, and not the rule with EKI.

Yep, it could've been reprofiled, but I was just so pissed at receiving a dull Emerson knife, that I put it up for sale soon after I got it - it sold in a matter of minutes IIRC. I was far too annoyed to reprofile it then. But then, I agree the norm for Emerson knives is for them to be razor sharp from the factory and not the reverse.
