What is the strangest/hard use task you put a folding knife to?

I needed to open a plug-fitting on a barrel and I didn't have the special wrench handy. The wrench had 4 prongs that fit into the top of the plug. I turned my Benchmade Griptilian over, spine down, and fitted the tip into one of the recesses in the plug. The spine caught on another piece of the plug. I used 2 hands on the handle and I was able to unscrew the fitting. It saved the day ;)
I am well aware that it would be considered abusive, but I was slow and gentle with it.

Cut my Aunts swamp cooler off her roof with my Severtech.
It was rusty and instead of getting off the roof for more tools, I used the A2 blade to cut through the rusty steel and threw the whole thing off the roof.

... half inch vulcanized rubber with a fiberglass layer in it. You find out about lock strength, and handle comfort in a hurry.

I can relate.
I've have to use folders to cut similar material on the job from time to time.
8Cr13Mov steel on my Tenacious didn't fare too well.
154CM on the Griptillian seemed to handle it fine.
I should clarify.
Both knives were sharp and cut through the material fairly well.
The edge on the Tenacious was dull afterwards. The Grip's edge was still fairly sharp.

I've also used folders to slice through dense high-heat fiberglass blanket on many occasion.
Talk about dulling an edge...

I've used a folder to open a can of SpagettiO's at a hotel.
Then sharpened it on the bottom of a coffee mug.

I've used the pommel side to pop open beer caps.

Lanced a giant boil behind my ear with a Spyderco Endura wrapped in paper so that only about 1/2" protruded.

On a semi-drunken bet, I actually split a 2x4 by batoning with my Spyderco Military. I thought for sure it would be badly damaged but it took the beating like a champ! That knife is a tank, I love it.

 Living in the Pacific islands, more than once I have used a folder (Schrade SP3 Firebird with a black plastic handle) to cut off a coconut palm frond that was blocking a trail. Careful slicing, sometimes with cutting several notches, will cut the palm frond and allow people to use the trail. My "white man's machete" did the job and saved a trip to get a larger knife.:)

- I like fresh coconut juice, and I use a folder to open coconuts. Definitely a strength and ergonomics tester right there.
- Working on wood outside of the garage, needed a chisel, too lazy to walk in garage, pull out knife, apply hammer.
- Drill into aluminum, need to deburr, no deburring tool, pull out knife, horray for steel being harder than aluminum.

Used the spine of the handle on my Pocket Bushman as an ice scraper. It does't have a square spine or anything but it worked just fine and saved the day. :p

I know these aren't uses you should do with your knives.. but when you're in a pinch, you use what you have.

Had to put two nails in the wall so my girlfriend could hang her tapestry, pulled the Manix 2 out and hammered them in while the knife was closed up near the top of the handle.

Used a ZT as a can opener while in a hotel.

I am quite proud to say that neither of them had any damage, no nicks, no scratches, they came out fine. I was impressed lol. I'm not sure if it's because the knife is that good. Or I'm just good at these things lol.
The knife is probably just that good. =]

Oh yeah--that reminds me. I've driven stakes with my Pocket Bushman whilst out in the field. There weren't any rocks around and I had to hold up a section of snow fence.

Used my Griptilian to clear out a fishing trail. (1'-3', maybe 4' thick trees. Pushing as hard as I can and chunking off huge peices of wood. It was my test when I first got it-ish..)
Clampaks usually get me acting stupid with a knife. Poking, prying lots-of-pressure and the plastic usually cuts the hell out of me.

I chopped down a tree with a liner folder last summer while camping.

No, I'm not kidding.
