I already have a Strider SMF and am looking for the next and last (ha ha ha, you've all said this before :D ) folder of the same strength. Sorry if repost, I've tried searchng under "strongest folder" and came up with nothing.

My Criteria:

$550 or less
Large bolster
Frame lock
good steel (S30V preferred)

Thanks o great masses of knowledge.

For that much, look into customs. Surely there's someone that could make you a framelock with extra-beefy titanium slabs for handles that'd outdo a Strider.

Look at DMknives, David Mosier makes super strong knives, yes they are custom but I bet he would make it the way you want it.

Another Strider?

Hinderer?

Wait for the Busse folder?

I dunno, I have a Sebbie, but also carry a Busse for 'strongest'.

AR,GB,or an SNG.

D Corrilo has permission from Mick to use the tri material on his folder the Trpwire. They go for $450 to $500.

Dude get away from production knives then. this is what you need. It is a very very strong framelock with a S30V blade. I have one on order for pickup in December. Best of all you can pick and choose your own options. Darrel is a great guy to deal with, and his knives are awesome! Here are a few pics.

Strongest how?

I'd say the Spyderco Chinook or Manix are stronger than any I've ever handled as far at the lock is concerned. But as for the blades that is probably not the case.

I already have one. I want another semi custom or production. I don't want to have anyone create one and wait approximately one million years.

Please keep the suggestions coming I research everything you say.

hmm hinderer? maybe talk to tom mayo? darrel ralph? if you can track down a greco folder, these are reputably very strong. The manix and chinook's blades break long before their locks fail. If you wait for the busse folder you'll probably be waiting for a loooong time.

If you want a strong production folder, the Cold Steel Recon I is 'supposed' to be pretty strong. It has their 'Ultra Lock', which looks to be a type of axis lock. If you've seen their video, they got a guy doin pull-ups with his weight on the lock. Older Japan version has AUS-8 blade, newer Tawain has 440A.

Why not try a bali...their "lock" can't fail you.

I see this type of comment a lot here. Sure, the lock is strong, but how about the pins through the handles? Aren't there other parts of a bali that would fail long before the lock and long before other folding knives with stronger pivots? I notice on my BM bali's there is just a small stop pin that the handles rest against. I would think this could be sheered off long before something like the lock bar in an AXIS lock knife would sheer off or bust through the dual steel liners, handle scales, etc.

Second vote for DMKnives. I have one of his Instigator 2 folders, it's a tank!

Any of the many Benchmades with an Axis lock would be stronger. So would a big lockback like the Manix or Chinook.

but all the bolsters that hold the blade and allow it ot pivot, look small in comparison the the current strider which looks to be twice as big.

For around $100.00 you could get a Manix or a Chinook II...
