What is the strongest folder?

While it's not a frame-lock, and it isn't the steel that you requested, how about a SOG Tomcat II?...Those are a hell-for-stout folder.

Interesting information, have you asked Dozier if it is supposed to be that way?

No sir, I did not think of such.

I am but a humble person, and to bug some fellow about a knive in remote canada, just never crossed my mind.

I figured as i left that day, it was supposed to be similar to that in design, and might be stronger then anything i own to this day.
(for me, visually, it didnt appear as such)

Second bit of hindsight makes me wonder more as the photo used in this thread, it also appears to just barely engage in it, atleast to me.

I should pick one up next month anyways, and work it a bit.
Still undecided.

I have exchanged emails with Dozier a few times, it is a reasonable question, I don't think he would be bothered by the request for information. In general I have found the vast majority of knifemaker tend to want to talk about their knives and appreciate it when you ask them. It is generally nicer to talk on the phone if you have a decent long distance plan and odds are you will get into more than just lockups.

Darrel Ralph AXD. Seem pretty strong and innovative. Check out the website. In the process of getting lead time and total price. will post pix when in, prolly several months.

$550 or less
Large bolster
Frame lock
good steel (S30V preferred)

Well if you have not owned a sebenza yet you should check one out - they are definately strong folders. What else is great, if after inspection you dont like it, you can flip it quick in the exchange - people are always looking for a nice deal on a sebenza.

I have an insanely strong Bud Weston, and you should check his current models. Greg Lightfoot's Full Contact, and any framelocker he is doing now. Greg builds them really tough. Realy, really tough. And any of Brian Tighe's framelockers: beautiful workmanship and very strong.

If you hadn't already made your decision I would have recommended the Scott Cook Lochsa.

I already have a Strider SMF and am looking for the next and last (ha ha ha, you've all said this before :D ) folder of the same strength. Sorry if repost, I've tried searchng under "strongest folder" and came up with nothing.

My Criteria:

$550 or less
Large bolster
Frame lock
good steel (S30V preferred)

Thanks o great masses of knowledge.

Spyderco Manix, can be had for $100. Tough, good cutter

Greco Folder, can be had for $80 or so, some would argue that is is tougher than Strider or Sebenza

SERE 2k, better cutter, but not quite as tough. $100

I think there is some stuff by Matt Cucchiara that are said to be the toughest folders ever, but I'd have to look it up to be sure.

Cliff after your post I had to look up that Fulcrum IID because I had not heard of it.
I must say that knife redefines ugly. I mean that thing IMO, is Dawg Ugly to look at! But I guess if it is built like a tank it need not be pretty so long as it does the job and feels pretty in the hand.

This is it right? Because that is what came up when I did the google thing.

Wow, this is my 1000th post.

Yes that is it. I would not call it ergonomic, but I would hazard a bet that the grip isn't going to be as god awful as you think it might be. I have handled worse. It is boxy and square and full of sharp corners though. It is likely designed to look impressive more so than actually out of functional concerns.

The edge needs to be radically altered from the NIB profile if you want to actually do serious cutting, even with a full grind though (I puukko'ed the edge), it still wedges seriously. Don't get this as a utility knife, it is more of sharpened prybar / poker / scraper.
