What is the ultimate EDC flashlight?

That covers all my needs.

Yeah, that about sums it up, doesn't it;) I've been "evaluating" my ARC LS as a replacement for my E2, so I could ditch the 123 batteries in my everyday carry. I just don't know yet. I rarely need the row of the surefire

Thanks for all the responses! Lots of good information.

I might have to check out one of those small Pelicans.

What is the approximate run time for the Arc LS?

Ah, it "depends" - There have been 2 basic variations of the LS out right now - the "LS1" and the "LS1 Hybrid", one draws 400mA and the other 500mA. Almost all testing has been done with the 400mA. Tp top it off, you can get the LS1 with 3 different battry packs (In order of Brightness)

1)1 AA Cell (being discontined)
2)1 CR123 cell (smallest config)
3)2 AA Cells

The CR123 version runs about 2 hours in "Sun" mode, and a bunch more in "Moon Mode" - ARC flashlights as semiregulated - they stay at almost constant brightness until they drop (suddenly) into moon mode! The AA versions are longer - the 1 AA is dimmer, but about 3+ hours, the 2AA???

This site has run time graphs of a lot of major flashlights

Received my KL1 bezel today and mounted it on my E2E-HA. Very impressive. I have green blobs infront of my eyes right now!! Think of and Arc AAA on steroids. With over 4 hours of full power light, this has to be the ultimate, if a little expensive, every day carry.
E2E+KL1, Arc AAA, Small Sebenza....I'm finally kitted-out!

ARC LS LS1-NAT /123 powerpak coupled with a red Photon II. I also have the 2 other AA powerpaks for it. As soon as they come out with the momentary switch I'll add that.

You could put a beam spreader on you E2 and flood instead of spot the light out.

Not quite...
The LS1 and the LS1 hybrid both draw 400mA.
There was a very small run of 500mA hybrid "mistakes" but those are not likely to be reproduced.
Look inside your hybrid and if you see a green circuit board around the battery contact you've got a standard 400mA. If you see a brown circuit board you've got a 500mA "mistake".
The main difference between the LS1 and the hybrid is that the hybrid will not run on the single AA battery (the new circuitry cuts off at 1.4 volts).

E2e w/KL1 has turned out to be about perfect for me. Had some misgivings at first, but actual use has voided all those. I was carrying both the E2e w/MN03, and an Inova X5 (and loving both of those lights) before getting the KL1. It has turned out to be a great compromise between the two, and I couldn't be much happier with it. The X5 wasn't bright enough for some things, the E2e/MN03 was too bright sometimes, and didn't have enough runtime. The KL1 is "just right".
Also have a white Photon II on my keyring.

Good thing flashlights aren't as expensive as custom knives...CPF is killing me with all the cool stuff I'm discovering on there. Bought a Legend LX recently, and last night a new (silver) Mini-Mag to put one of those Inretech LS adaptor thingies in. An Arc LS that I can use 2 AAs in would be neat, too. Luxeon Star . What an incredibly cool name. Makes me want to buy a bunch of lights, just to have. Thinking that I must have a Tigerlight and/or UltraStinger, since my plain old Stinger works just fine-which means I should have something better.
I have no idea what I'm going to use all this stuff for:rolleyes:

Head slap - your right - I was off on the details - I thought all the early hybrids were the mistake kind
