I thought this might make an interesting thread. I made this knife for a customer many years ago. It had brass bolster, and a brass butstock. The handle was copper with a black spacer. The copper got hot really fast when I was grinding on it.

Hey, I forgot about trypper's caduceus knife. That's a great example

That is my caduceus knife. I made it when my father was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. It was a sort of icon of hope that the medical establishment would be able to help him. He lasted almost three years after it was made, much of that time in home hospice treatment.

It was one of my early efforts, before I learned how to hand sand pieces and retain the center line. The WIP topic for that is still available.

Excellent work, in all examples.

Tom, aside from the copper, that deep choil would make for a great self defense knife, ala Fred Perrin.

James, that first knife screams Extreama Ratio. Any reason for the handle treatment? I've asked about the ER knives, but I guess it's just a style thing.

Greg, that is amazing actually. The idea came across perfectly and I recognized the affect immediately. Definitely qualifies as different. Sorry to hear about your pop. :( Cancer sucks.

The client essentially picked out all the features he liked from several different knives, and made a composite drawing. The handle style was indeed inspired heavily by an Extrema Ratio knife.

I made a few but this one is special in the sense that it is one of the first knife I made and the one that really got me hooked.

Is it weird enough?

Those are certainly some different looking knives. Great craftsmanship and creativity in their making.
