What is the WORST knife made?

The worst knife that I have had the chance to handle was the Paragon X-O lite. The Linerlock is paper thin and on all three that I tried the lock engaged the blade almost all the way over to the right. I would swear you could close the knife with the lock engaged. This knife looked nice, but was not well made at all.

The manual X-O lites are crap when compared the autos...

Anything China, Pakistan, United Cutlery, and the Gerber A/F Covert folder. I don't have one, but I know of three people that do. They seem to just fall apart.

I'd have to join in on the United Cutlery bashing I guess :)

They do make (1) good product however....

"Metal Glow".., really good stuff for high carbon steels....

Must have been a mistake....lol

I agree with Metalglow, I love it. IMO its as good as Simichrome. Something that good from United HAS to be a mistake.

This was a decent ( as in not excellent ) line before
they changed the manufacturing location  For the price,
they made a good "knock-around", but no more :(

Quiet Sturm :

I still no likee the "AK-47 commemorative" from Boker.
$220U.S.D.'ll buy you one of their damascus folders.

Agreed. NO COMMIES !

As for Hubertus :

At the time ( 1992 ) about the only thing the company in
the midwest I dealt with had to remedy the broken spring
was a "replacement spring kit" which entailed drilling out
the brass pins ( taking care not to break the stag
handles! ) removing the whole mainspring/backspring,
then re-assembling the knife. I've seen much better
German "sprengers" that, when the leaf spring broke, it was just
a matter of replacing the leaf spring. I guess that's why
the industry's use coil springs instead.

United Cutlery :

A beginners knife at best. Wouldn't
want to get cut now, would we? :D

AET :D

Wow, I love my Top Lock. Ren (TDTB) gave it to me as a gift at last year's Blade Show, so I guess it holds sentimental value too. But overall I find the knife to be smooth and has retained a pretty nice edge. My only complaint is that the blade seems to be prone to scratches. Mine has noticeable, multiple scratches on the blade, and yet I've only used it "hard" a few times.

I even have a knife from Pakistan that I like. ha!

I don't always care about the blade steel, or the handle material..or even what kind of lock it has. I like it to be tight and consistently functioning at a reasonable level. I am partial to a nice hard "click" upon opening.

Blade play is annoying, but not always an issue for me, unless it's
w-a-y excessive.

I prefer Spydercos. I believe their out-of-the-box sharpness is unmatched. The people that makes the decisions at Spyderco are passionate about what they're doing. Money is not always the bottom line. I know, believe me.

Spydercos also seem to have the most solid construction of any EDC in that price range. You can get a NIB Delica on ebay for around $20-25, and I have played with $300 that didn't feel as solid. I carry my Blue BF Native almost exclusively, and I believe it's probably the best knife I've ever owned. Again, however; I have a close sentimental relationship with that particular knife. (Though the current one I have is the third Blue BF Native I've had.) The previous 2 were stolen from my apartment within a very short time of each other. Both we given to me under very special circumstances.

I think there's been something redeeming about every knife I've had or handled. But then again, I don't make it a point to seek out Frost Cutlery stuff to play with.

So, the point is...I never met a knife I didn't like. Yet.

I literally gave it away to a fellow worker. The liner was so damn thin. Not the kind of quality I would expect from Schrade.

IF WAR IS HELL, TAKE A BETTER PITCHFORK THAN THE DEVIL :grumpy:

Yea, United sucks, no doubt. But what about that Frost crap they sell on HSN???? Knives for pennies??? Pretty bad knives! :barf: :barf: :barf: :D :D

I respectfully disagree.

I think United Cutlery does a decent job of providing knives for the entry level knife collector. They are mostly wall hangers, but they are fairly priced as wall hangers.

The guys I really have a problem with are the Franklin Mint. These guys go out of their way to sell the worst kinds of junk, at the highest possible price, to the most ignorant of knife buyers (the uninformed and well intentioned gift giver).

Where else could you buy a quality item like this for a mere $575.00?! :barf: :barf: :barf:

It must have been tough to get it officially authorized by a legendary character.

Heck i forgot about Franklin Mint n2s, your have come up with the Worst Knifes Made at the Highest Prices on the planet for PURE POS!

Hey Allen, long time no see,
IMO the worst knife out there has got to be the Schrade Cliphanger. The liner on this model is about as thick as 2 pieces of Xerox paper.
***What have you guys got against Cold Steel? Whereas I agree that they aren't the most attractive knives out there, they make it up with their durability and function. I put my Voyager through more abuse than any of my other folders and it worked like the Energizer Bunny. I personally like AUS-8 and I would take it over ALOT of the newer "super" steels.

I once bought a Paragon OTF that was the fastest opening butter knife I ever had.

I sent it back. I didn't need a fast opening butter knife.

Ditto on the Schrade Cliphanger, thin liner and too much play in the blade. Had the liner fail while trimming grapevines no bigger in diameter than a pencil.

THIS ONE

Notice raise over point so to make sure you can really stab anything...
Blade is "chisel ground" (hype term ofr : we worked the slab on one side only as it's cheaper and easier to get a decent edge).
You can see finish well in the pic, but i handled a couple and finish is godawfully crappy.
