I promised Blues I wouldn't post any more ; just read .
. . . hey . . . I have to wind down first .
How about I start the thread and then just read the results ?
I have been truly interested in getting a "Real One" from the past . Maybe this Christmas time I will finally get serious .
Need some knowledge first .
I have a basic basic modern one .
One day I am going to get the real artical ; and I am going to use it to.
I just searched but found threads mostly about RR and modern stuff .
I went here but just got an ERROR440 or some such when I click on the link to info there .

What are the Real Elephant Toes ?

PS: the one I picure in my mind ending up with someday is :
Dark brown
Jigged pretty good .
Used by a workman back in the day but not too beat up .

I know I need a membership to buy here , when the time comes .
Not asking for knives for sale .
I am asking for knowledge .

To my thinking these are "real" elephant toenails. However, they are not very old. The first is 1976 and then two 1980s. Jigged pakka wood on the first two and apaloosa bone on the third. I would like to get an old one someday. Maybe a green bone Case or a worm groove jigged bone Cattaraugus.

So many things wrong with your post.

1. No one asked you not to post. The post you took offense to last night was a teasing response to another member who had posted immediately above my post in the thread. (You didn't bother to read the thread, or you'd have figured it out for yourself, or perhaps not.)

2. I have asked you to stay on topic in the past rather than go off on one of your stream of consciousness journeys which sidetrack the actual topic under discussion. That is not a request to stop posting. If you look at your warnings and infractions, you'll see the evidence of that. Oh, wait, you haven't received any "warnings".

3. You don't need a paying membership to "buy" here, but if you don't you can't send DMs, which puts you and your wallet at risk.

For any further questions you may have, you can inquire when you can send a DM... or post in the tech support area, or report a post which you seem to be having an issue with comprehending.

Lots of the old US made cutlery companies made Elephant Toe pattern knives in the earlier part of the 20th century. Some of the most common/popular are from Platts, Case (Brothers, Bradford, Tested, XX, ...), AJ Jordan, Wilbert, Robeson, Aerial Cutlery, Ulster, Bridge, Camillus, Union Cutlery, Cattaraugus, Napanoch, Challenge, Marbles, Crandall, Boker, Henry Sears, HSB, Primble, Shapleigh, Valley Forge, along with quite a few others.

I believe only Platts and Robeson were swell center style, where the rest were more traditional toe shaped.

Yes I recognize a few of those makers from being over on Arazona Custom Knives ; most all had been sold but it's a start .

ooooooh swell center . I tend to really like Case's Swell Center knives like the little Swell Center Jack . I have a few of those as users .
