I came across this pic the other day and loved it. I'm going to try one out with an old piece of 1095 I had laying around. I'm just curious as to what it is considered? Is it a type of kukri? Short sort of some kind? Just curious as to it's origin. Looking forward to the challenge it will be to grind this thing.

Just looked up what a falcata was....:) very close. I'm wondering if this was just a custom build, and not actually designed after something.

Blade shape fits Iberian falcata or Greek kopis, but handle is wrong for them. It is most likely an interpretation of a Medieval falchion.

Mentioning the handle, the one I designed and cut has more of a kopis look to it. Hm. Interesting. I'll go with that. Lol. Thanks guys

Actually I found it. That one is a prop from Game of Thrones. They call it an Arakh and it's a weapon from the Dothracki people on the show. It sounds like they say the history of it evolved from a cythe.

That one is made my Jody Samson

That's a Jody Samson blade. Though it's a fantasy blade, he likely had a name for it which might reveal his inspiration for making it. He usually gave his swords descriptive names.

Checked his website but can't find that specific sword. Many of his swords no longer have pictures since he passed years ago. I almost certain that's a Samson and not from Game of Thrones.

Were it real I think it would fit within the falchion category. Short chopping blade with a cross guard and point. Unless I am wrong, which is entirely likely :D

I'll look into it some more. Thanks! I just want a little more into so I know how to list it.

I think you're right. It looks like Jody's work. I talky wish there was a more complete online catalog of his work....
