I've been searching for ages for this specific kind of knife and I've FINALLY found a few of them. From what I can gather...unfortunately... they are (as I feared) just called "hunters". I'm planning a collab (possible double build) with the girlfriend and she agreed that we should make this kind of knife. I'm looking for inspiration, here. I like doing my research, and I'm sure many of you know, if you google "Hunter knife" there comes a wave of knives that look absolutely NOTHING like what this design.

(this is just a picture I found of a nice example of the "Hunter" knife I'm talking about made by J. Doyle off "The Knife Network", to give the man credit for his work)

My main question is: are there other names for this style of knife? Also, are there names for the blade style? The handle style?

I'm looking for inspiration, if you guys have made any of this style knife (or know of some good examples) I would be much appreciative for the help.

Yep, that's a hunter, alright. Look at the Fisk Sendero, or google Journeyman Smith test knives. Almost all JS submission groups have one similar.

Very cool! And quick on the reply there, thanks. Yeah, a modified Fisk Sendero...is "a hunter knife". Cool, that helps a good deal!

True enough. My main interest, I guess, is the handle. I'm a big fan of that very simple handle.

Keep the photo around and use it for inspiration. Everyone has a slight difference in interpretation of any design. This is a very simple design drop point hunter. Stick tang construction. Don't feel bad about using the design. Been done hundreds of times by as many makers. If you want drop John Doyle a line and ask if he minds you using his design for inspiration. He's a great guy. Might even get e few pointers.

Yep John is a great guy and on Bladeforums frequently! You picked a beautiful Hunter.

That´s a beautifull and sober knife. I like the style as well.
Maybe make a his and hers in wood an pink G10 ;)
