Welcome to the forum.

You have to be a paid member to ask how much a knife is worth.

As far as what that is and the maker, the maker is Frost Cutlery, and it's basically a novelty knife.

Frost is well known for making "inexpensive" knives of questionable quality. Think "Home Shopping Channel" knives.

On a side note- that knife (a knuckle knife) is completely illegal in my state of California.

where does surgical steel hold up? is it high corrosive resistant, hardness , blade retention?

i picked it up for 5 bucks. a few years ago, never did anything with it.

"Surgical steel" is a very generic term given to the steel used to make many inexpensive knives. There's absolutely no way, short of lab testing, to know exactly what it is. It could be made in Pakistan from melted down sinks and bedpans.

Since there's no way to know what it is, short of actual use and prolonged exposure to moisture, there's no way to know what it's level of corrosion resistance or edge-retention will be. My advice is- don't expect to be impressed with either from that knife.

Of course it's always possible to be surprised by a cheap knife. I've seen it happen, and I've experienced it myself. Cheap knives can be useful, and fun. And if you just like it or think it's cool, then at $5 I'd say it's a bargain.

In judging the quality of a knife, the identification of the steel is often very telling. If all the knife says is "surgical steel", that says it's a very "inexpensive" knife made of mystery steel, and one should not expect a high level of performance.

I agree with Killgar with the exception of Case knives. They list some of their knives as having surgical steel and it is really decent stuff and Case are USA made good quality knives. The Frost brand is not known for quality and most of those that are designed in the genre or similar style as the knife you are showing are commonly referred to as Mall Ninja knives and have little to no value. They are usually mass produced with the most inexpensive materials and labor available and marketed for their "cool" value. Continue to read the threads on this forum and soon you will start to get a feel for what makes a good knife and brands that have top notch reputations as well as those to to stay away from.
Good luck

You probably overpaid. Looks like a cutlery corner "get these 100 knives for $60" special type piece.
