A friend brought me this knife to sharpen. Said he thinks his dad might have picked it up during the Korean war, but not sure. Anyone have any info on what style of knife this might be, or any information at all.

Thanks in advance!

It is a carving knife for meats. Usually paired with a serving fork. Made for use at the dinner table. Looks like it may have been repaired as the blade should not be connected that way to the handle. The stag handle appears to be in good shape, the blade could use some clean up.

Howdy from Hatteras! I've got a knife with the exact same blade shape as yours but with a slightly different handle. It is stamped (lightly) "Landers, Frary & Clark" with "Aetna Works" underneath. It is part of a 3 piece set with a sharpening rod and a two pronged "skewer" to go with it. Hope this helps.

And the year or era of production, gentlemen? Are those new?

Near as I can tell my set is circa 1900.

I have a carving set I inherited from my grandfather. The blade shape is very similar. Like the OP's knife, the blade is carbon steel. It dates from ~1900.
