I just bought a knife. It has blue aluminum handles on it and says spyderco on it. It claims to have. 154cm blades steel and has the wire pocket clip. It is only about 3 to 4 inches open . I don't have any pictures of it but am about what it is. It also has the byrd opening hole

Byrd is made in China, so having American steel sounds fishy. Can you post a picture, please?
You can post pictures by uploading to Photobucket, clicking on image code, then paste in the text box.

It is one of the most common "fakes" on eBay, if you can call it that. It is NOT made by Spyderco. I seriously doubt the blade is really 154CM. It isn't a copy of any Spyderco design, it just has their registered trademark name on it , along with the registered trademark comet-shaped opening hole of the Byrd line, to sucker people into throwing their money away on it.

I guess I should have asked first if this was it.

If not, you may disregard my previous post.

Edit to add: I've also seen listings for the same knife in blue, green and red. All of them are as bogus as a three dollar bill.

Ahh... What is that monstrosity? Now I feel bad for the guy that he has to receive this in the mail.

That is a very ugly beast. I wish there wasn't so many fakes out there these days.

Man now ain't that an abomination...

Yep that's it... but then again for the 2 bucks I spent on it. It all that bad...

Well...actually yes it is that bad. You are supporting/encouraging theft from Spyderco. Not just a couple "harmless" bucks wasted on a junk knife. Post it on the Spyderco forum here....see if Sal Glesser thinks it's OK.

All in my opinion, of course.

Seems legit.
Just how many Spyderco knives do you actually own and use again? You really have no idea what you are saying.

I started a thread in the Spyderco forums here that was sticky'd a while back with pictures of this kind of junk. If you haven't seen it yet, have a look.

Well... when I picked it up I looked at alll of the things I look for on any knife... good centering... good ergos... good clip.... no blade play in any direction... so I support it then... and I bet if it wasn't a knock off spyderco it would be just as popular as a subcom!

I don't understand how you SUPPORT a terrible rip-off of a very good company. Sal would be pretty angry with you if he read your comment.
Looking at the thing, I wouldn't be surprised if the blade was pot metal.
