From time to time products come up that makes me scratch my head, and especially recently with what brands think as us having either no sense or unlimited pockets.

For example... this knife here, is it a production or a custom? And I couldn't tell anywhere if there is Microtech's special touch that produces what they call a custom knife. Is there something new or special about it that I don't know? Why is this thing $1300?

Why is this thing $1300?

Donning my fire-retardant suit, I will suggest it is $1300 because it says "Microtech" on it.

This is one brand I have never understood the associated price tag. They are $200 knives, with a $1100 logo. They just aren't that exceptional. And yes, I have owned (past tense) a couple.

I am a Microtech fan, and I don't get this one either. The pricing would make me think Marfione custom, except those took a big jump recently, too, and I don't think you can get one for $1300 anymore.

The MT Hawk, without the tacticool handle, has been made forever and has a price tag in line with their other production offerings. How this one picked up a leading '1', I dunno.
