It can be improved upon. I wouldn't be too down about it. Pop in some more RAM, get rid of things you don't need, and it should be running faster.
As for games, you can download some free ones or play some online. If you give us the kind of games you're interested in, maybe people could offer suggestions. Just be careful about what you download.
There are other ways to make your machine faster as well. A faster hard drive, new CPU...
With regards to Windows Annoyance Center (oops I mean 'Security Center') you can disable the warnings. Open it up and on the left you should see "Change the way Security Center alerts me". Click it and uncheck anything you don't want it to harass you about.
