Gentlemen,

just want to share with you this interesting experience...

Just got a message from Google that advertising of knives is prohibited by internal Google polices... I called them and answer I got was - "yes, you cannot advertise knives anymore on Google because they are considered to be the Weapons..."

I asked for a definition of a "weapon" and answer was - you can hurt somebody with the Hunting knife... WTF!!!

So You cannot advertise hunting knives in USA by the most advanced technical company in the World (Google) because you can hurt somebody with it...

What is wrong with our country now??? Where are we going?

I don't really understand..... How were you trying to advertise it? How could google have any say in it?

Should have asked them if it was okay to advertise kitchen knives.

I did! Girl said yes, then she said she will talk to the "specialist" and when I asked very specifically - "ALL KNIVES?" she said YES again.. But I don't think kitchen knives are prohibited if your website sells ONLY kitchen knives. "Hunting knives" are very dangerous according to Google "Specialist"

Very sad...

Damn... I really wish this was in W&C because I have a violent storm or profanity that is urging to be unleashed towards Google. I am really heated right now.

It seems that Google is being run by feminists and manginas. As a moderator can you move your thread to Whine and Cheese please? I think it would be the appropriate place to discuss this matter. There are many words that I can not use here to properly and thoroughly express my feelings towards this matter.

Holy cow, REALLY. And I thought the guys at Mac were the dumb ones.

Better stop advertising for construction tools too. Just imagine the damage that can be done with a hammer and a utility knife, OR an axe. I bet I could use my 20# dumbell to hurt someone pretty well too, better get weights off there too.

I must be missing something here.

Just Googled "hunting knives" and a helluva lot of *Sponsored Ads* popped right up...?

Meh. They're a private corporation and they can advertise as they see fit. Sadly, I don't think the knife community is big enough to put any significant financial hurt on them so it will probably stay that way.

Oh come off it. Questioning the supposed masculinity of a group because you disagree with their policies is juvenile at best and hardly leads to constructive conversation about said policies. Personally, I plan to email them to politely point out that the vast majority of knives are simple working tools that are necessary for many men and women to do their jobs and that it hardly makes sense to make them more difficult to acquire.

I am not shocked as Facebook also in theory does not allow ads our post boosts of knives either. Though there are some ways around it. I have long felt there is a need for a social site along the lines of Facebook etc for those of us who are into knives, guns, etc.
