What is wrong with me?

...What is wrong with me?

That's the first step :)

Luckily I do not have this problem,
(The Doc said I should look in the mirror as I say that ten times each morning )

Nothing wrong you just found the one that works.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

You're there!

For most of us heavy afflicted knife knuts, life is a series of temporarily satisfying events of buying a knife, then buying another knife, then another and so on. Ewe keep on buying becuae none of them has been the "one".

But now and then, on rare occasions, a knife knut will find one that fits his hand just right, has just the right blade/blades, and feels so right that all other knives loose their appeal. For years I carried a Buck stockman and I loved it. But then I go the affliction. For the next 20 years, I tired all kinds of knives. I ended up with a large accumulation of pocket knives. But then my dad passed away, and just for the sake of sentimentality, I carried his old Case peanut for a while. I got to love the little serpentine jack and I bought my own. I got hooked on peanuts. For years then, I carried a peanut. If I carried another knife, like a SAK for a camping trip, or a small fixed blade on a fishing trip, that knife was carried to augment the peanut.

Then I got arthritis in my hands bad enough that the little peanut was difficult to handle and I have this friend who is very perceptive. He gifted me a stockman with very light pulls, and since then, I have very rarely carried any other knife. I love that stockman because it gives me the same three blades that my old Buck stockman gave in a trimmer smoother package. Plus it's a lot better looking that my old Buck. Now I have THE knife to carry.

When I find the
one" knife to carry, I loose a lot of interest in other knives. I still like to look, but in the end I see a lot of knives that for one reason or another, doesn't have what my present knife has. It doesn't have enough of that indefinable 'something' that bakes my cookie. So the Northwoods stockman stays in my pocket as "THE" knife. All other knives take a backseat to it.

You're fine, bud. You are one of the luckily ones in the knife world, and you may yet have become the mythical "one knife man".

Like they say in the gn world, about beware the one gun man because he knows how to use, the one knife man is the same. Eventually the knife will become like an extension of your index finger.

Congratulations!

"I seem to be different than the typical member here."

"I think"

"with envy"

"can not seem to justify"

"to be honest" :rolleyes::rolleyes:

"I can not see"

"keeps the patina at bay":eek::eek:

"I try to find an excuse to buy another knife"

"What is wrong with me?"

ACME instructions:

Catch the road runner, skin him with that 73, eat him, throw that ole 73 as far as you can (no need to justify), make new avatar, buy TC Barlow (it will be different), throw the metal polish in the trash, smile, and welcome to your new "normal" !!! :D

Nothing is wrong with you. There is something wrong with the REST of us. You have become sane. Yet you are still hanging out in the asylum for the insane.

Once an alcoholic has stopped drinking, he shouldn't hang out in bars unless he wants to relapse.

Go - you are free. Run like the wind!

What a great knife! Quintessential example of modern production, bareheaded expanse of ebony, useful and pocketable, fulfilling all your needs and ticking all your 'contentment' buttons.

I've come to the same place with other items in my life; it's a wonderful feeling to be filled full, a peaceful place from which to appreciate (and enjoy learning about) all the other options continually forthcoming, without feeling pressure to find and/or acquire any of them, because you're set.

Congratulations! :)

I think you are correct sir. My willpower may be lacking. I better delete this place from my web browser.

Nothing wrong with you, but Derrick and Mike will be along shortly to knock some sense into you :D...

I've found the one so many times, I don't think the one is out there for me.

Reminds me of the scene in Goodfellas, Tommy's mother tells him to find a nice girl and settle down, he tells her he finds a nice girl every night.

Primble, that 15 is perfect! I can't believe I sold mine!

There is a meme going around on Facebook, for different hobbies. My favorites are "Teach your children to collect guns" or "Teach your children to collect Star Wars toys" so they don't have money for drugs.

Teach your children to be knife collectors so they don't have money for drugs.

Knife collecting, more expensive than cocaine but not as slimming...

Getting close to the maximum number of tools for me, which is 3
Victorinox Classic SD-StayGlow, SwissChamp - Hardwood, and a Buck custom shop 112 ( 1 week mark, the waiting... )
