What is your 2012 knife goal?

I'm wondering if anyone else has a 2012 knife related goal. I don't like the idea of "resolutions" but I have set goals before like doing away with carbonated drinks last year.

So, do some of you have knife goals for this year? Maybe whittling down your knives to just "users", maybe organizing the mess that is your knife collection, for the collectors maybe you hope to get certain knives you've been missing, or maybe this year is the year to get your CRK, custom, or other unicorn.

Personally my "knife goal" is to start free-hand sharpening this year.

I realised over the Christmas break that I am not a 'collector' per se. I only want to have knives that I would not be reluctant to use under appropriate circumstances. To that end, although my 'collection' is relatively modest, I'm offloading a few that will never cut anything, and replacing them with something that will earn its keep. I also want to learn to sharpen and maintain my knives correctly as well.

To make sure that there are more knives in my knife desk than the previous year.....

Also; make sure they are kept sharp for when the zombie apocalypse happens next Dec.....

:P

Trying to keep my buys in two or three, if even that. I haven't bought anything new in half year now, and it seems more satisfying to me than having drawers full of stuff that I never use. I try to keep all of my knives as users.

I`ll be EDCing a Case CV Peanut combined with a Leatherman PS4 for the year, buy 1 GEC (probably a Conductor) and get the Green Para2 sprint run. Other than that I don`t have any knife goals other than trying to keep the purchases to a bare minimum.

to use em :)

Bk10, Swamp Rat Rucki, the Kabar Heavy Duty series, Enzo Trapper, TKC custom ESEE 4, there's a want list for sure. All of em are going to get heavy use.

Enjoy what I have!
Certainly, I have enough... well, maybe a Spydie Native5... then - an ESEE-3...
No... no... bad Stainz.... STOP!!

Hmmmm, wonder whatz new on the Kershaw/ZT sub-forum???

To be content with what I have, and to use what I have. To get rid of some of the unused knives I have sitting in drawers. I have no desire to be a collector, and I don't need drawers of unused knives that never see the light of day. That said, I'm weak.

Well , I've always carried a knife and had knives , but never got into "good" knives till a couple of years ago . Since then it's been an ongoing thing of buying , tyring and often reselling most of them . Just recently I have bought a few knives , a couple of them are keepers . I'm NOT a collector , so my knife goal is to do more research before I buy and then slowly replace the knives I'm not happy with with keepers . Yeah yeah ............... I know , good luck with that

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

I really hope to settle on a standardized go to combo. Meaning a fixed blade 6-9 inches and a necker or 4-5 inch hip carry. Basically a heavy brush clearing wood splitter and something small for fine cutting. Currently I bounce all over from machetes to tomahawks etc.

I understand and agree with all of this 100%.

My goal is to keep what I have which is not much now, about 15 knives I think. I have sold and traded about 30 knives is the past 18 months.

I think I have almost all that I want. Probably going to unload my ESEE Junglas, #3, #4, and Izulas and upgrade in those sizes.

I'm thinking buy at least one knife a month.

January, Fallkniven S1 Forest. And a Helle Jagermeister.

That's two, isn't it?

Ok, lets say my goal is to buy two knives a month.

:D

My goal is to dump all my non-users and pick up a few more customs. They have to be real users though. Oh, and perfecting my free-hand sharpening is a goal. I can do it but rely on my Edge Pro for the heavy duty reprofiling.

Let's make everyone's New Year's Resolutions come true: All of the guys looking to downsize need to mail their knives to the guys who want more. It's a win-win! :D

Well so far I have a 560 and a cf millie preordered. The only other knife I would like to get is a xm-24 flipper but paying a grand for a $500 knife takes alot of thinking...or booze. We'll see how the year pans out.

Both Jerry Hossom Retubution folders, 5 ZT's, Boker Kalashnikov 101 and Busse Killa Zilla 2...for starters.
