What is your 2012 knife goal?

I'm thinking BM Rukus... a new machete and maybe another small fixed blade.

I want thin out the safe queens, got way to many that I doubt I will ever carry. Try to not buy any knives I won't use and pay for new knives with money from knives I sell. Once I decide I want a particular knife I plan to wait a week or so before I buy it to see if I really want it or would rather have something else by then.

Been making fixed blade knives for a few years, want to try to make a few friction folders this year. Also want to do my first home heat treat on a blade.

Greg

That's my problem, I tend to buy a few (like 5) of my favorite knife because I'll never be able to get over losing or breaking one. I have 3 XM-18s and 2 XM-24s which is a lot of cabbage to have ties up in a few folders. One of my XM-18s has seen so much use and sharpenings that it's actually smaller (blade size) than a new one and has some nice scratches here and there. If I go somewhere that it may be requested for a looksee, I exchange it for a never been used model. Get home and switch back again. Then there's steel types within the model that must be sampled...lol :D :D :D

Pick up an edge pro apex. Ive got several friends that want knives sharpened, and invest in a few more spydercos. I have a drawer full of benchmades so its time ro add a few spidercos to the collection.

Let's make everyone's New Year's Resolutions come true: All of the guys looking to downsize need to mail their knives to the guys who want more. It's a win-win! :D

:D

Did you receive the PM with my Mailing Address yet? :D

The last half of 2011, I thought I'd cut back on buying new blades. Seeing how well that didn't work and am now looking at a Buck 307 to buy, I'm not making any resolutions for 2012 and as for goals, some knives only come along once in a blue moon and you have to buy them when you see them.

More traditional folders. I think I've hit the wall where modern locking one-handers are concerned... even though I don't own any Hindenbergs, Sebonzos or Strikers ;)

I broke my 2011 goal of no new knives two weeks before xmas........just a krupp/plastic CS pendelton and a sog folding saw 34$ together. Still did pretty well cutting back.

My 2012 goal is to sell/trade enough out of the cabinet to pick up a bk-5(and maybe a tweener), the only knife(s) I will buy this year. Second part of the goal is to cobble together the 3 kit knives I have.

I have a few exotic steel knives slated for Q1 2012, dunno what after that though...

I want a PM2, Police 3, and a Busse folder.

A Busse folder! Link please!! I'd save my money on the Police 3, I had one for years and never really had use for a shank like that. Save your money and get a nice 4 or 6 inch CS Ti-lite for pig sticking - you'll thank me for the savings!

My goal for 2012 is to spend way less on knives, and/or to fund purchases by selling some of my existing hoard.

I also have this secret desire to sell off about 90% of my collection, with the hope that the remaining 10% will be more meaningful.

I was going to send my address to you.

Besides, I doubt I have anything you'd even like. :D

While waiting for your PM with your Mailing Address to be sent, I have started to save Egg Cartons to ship my collection to you.
I think you'll be surprised and pleased by these specimens of metallurgy from my collection because, most are still in the unopened packaging they were sold in. :D

My 2012 goal is to stop buying so many knives! It is truly an addiction but it's not hard on the liver like some of my other pursuits.

+1. Just like Powernoodle and Mortimer, I'm gonna sell, SELL...

There's a few I want to sell also , maybe 5 or so fixed blades , seeing as it's the majority of my stash. That leaves me with still too many :D

At the same time I'm still eyeing a couple of customs I want to replace them with.

So in the end . no matter what I do the quantity doesn't change much.

Another knife goal of mine is to only bring 3 knives on trips instead of a bagfull. It's just getting too damn heavy at my age ! :o
