So how about it? What is your all time, number one, over the top favorite?

Or do you have one? I know some will say it's too hard to pick just one....:D

Here is one I'm liking a lot........:)

Post your photos and comments of some of the blades you can't do with out.

Thanks!

Todd

I love clip point folders. The tip on a clip point is not as sturdy as some other blade shapes but since I don't pry with my knives that isnt an issue for me.

The clip point is my all time favorite, both on a slipjoint and a fixed blade, and I really love one with a nice swedge. This clip point on my Case Saddlehorn is my idea of perfect:

Always like Drop Points for most things, but I also like the Trailing point.

When it comes to folders I've always been partial to long slim clips ala Case's 048 even though, more often than not, I'll be carrying something with either a spear or drop point as the master (or only) blade. Of course, the blade that I've always gotten the most use out of is the pen. With fixed blades, I'm usually pretty happy with either a drop or clip point.

I don't have a favorite type, only a preference. Pull cuts make up the majority of my knife use, and with a higher-positioned tip or with a lesser amount of belly, I have to twist my wrist to use the whole blade and to keep the material being cut from slipping off the edge.

For that reason, I like any type where, with the handle horizontal, the tip is near or lower than the terminal of the edge at the other end (near the handle), and there is a good amount of belly sticking out below the terminal points of the edge.

I'm not sure if that's clear, but for instance I like the Insingo better than the standard Sebenza because the tip is nearer to the height of the edge near the handle (though the Insingo also isn't ideal, since the tip is still higher and lacks belly):

The best I have in this regard are Spyderco's Military and a Ken Coats slipjoint:

The ruler, handle, and green stick are parallel. It has a lot of belly, yet the tip is nearly precisely aligned with the other termination of the edge. The Military is shaped similarly.

I like a blade with a tip forward edge and straightish with only a slight curve, and stabby. Favorites were the Leek, MT LCC, Caly 3, and BM 940. I don't like a lot of belly.

either an american tanto but like what was said above by kreole id like the tip/belly what have you to be out farther then the handle.

or a recurve so long as the grind is parallel to the edge (ie Emerson Super Commander)

Clip points for large blades, drop points for small blades (under 5"), Wharncliffs for anything that strikes my fancy.

For folders spearpoint. As far as full tang straight blades tossup between the chute knife (aka Dan Crotts NOT the Loveless chute with guard added on and not integral to blade) and a bowie/ modified bowie.

Organic recurve (a la ZT 0200 / Kershaw Spec Bump)
Sheepsfoot/modified wharnnie/santoku (a la JYD II)
