What is your all time, over the top, number one, must have favorite blade shape?

Wharncliffe blades for me. I used to think they were limited but I find that they work just so perfectly for what I do on a daily basis.

I would say my overall favorite blade shape is the Tanto. As a furniture repair and refinishing technician, the tanto point gives me the best choices for function in one blade. I can use it as a chisel, knife and get into tight corners and true up the angle with the tip

I am a fan of Spyderco Leaf shaped blades. Sometimes they seem little wider in the pocket but they shine when it comes time to spread mayo or butter. for me it's the best all around blade shape.

Grizz

In terms of putting food on the table, the classic "French" chef's knife is the most useful.

Clip points, drop points, and Benchmade's reverse tanto are my favorite. I find that those three work best for what I use my knives for which is why my current EDC rotation is a Spyderco Para Military 2 (Clip point), Spyderco Gayle Bradley (Drop point), and Benchmade 950 Rift (Benchmade reverse tanto).

Clip point here too, especially in fixed blades. Looks good, works good!

I can't get enough of broad leaf-shaped blades, especially when they're full-flat-ground. I find they're breeze to sharpen and they're great for cutting a huge variety of materials.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I think they look friggin' gorgeous. :D

That kinda makes me wonder and why I started this thread................. WHAT? & WHY?

Do you choose more over the look of the blade? -
OR
Do you choose more over the performance of the blade and the heck with what it looks like?:D

Some good stuff guys.

So how about it? What is your all time, number one, over the top favorite?

Or do you have one? I know some will say it's too hard to pick just one....:D

Here is one I'm liking a lot........:)

Post your photos and comments of some of the blades you can't do with out.

Thanks!

Todd

The modified wharny makes a good slicer. Full wharncliffe makes for a good piercer of materials such as feed bags and marker when doing carpentry. I have small fixed blades for skinning and the like, they are more clipped than my every day work knives.
