What is your chess rating? Fav opening? Wanna play?

You can move knight d3 to b4.
The king would be forced to move to e1.
From there he can only move to d2
If nothing else, he will stalemate after repeating that move several times.

Realistically, when the king goes back to d2 pawn e2 moves to e1 (promoted to queen) for a checkmate.

N2s

Yes, N3b4 could start a sequence to force a draw by repetition. But you made me realize that N5b4 is another one move stalemate I hadn't thought of yet. There is another one move to stalemate in addition to the Nc3 and N5b4. Pawns don't have to promote to Queens.... c1=N is a stalemate in one move as well (or in plain spoken words, pawn to c1, promote to knight).

Anyway, I know chess puzzles are usually "look for the best move", not "look for how to deliberately stalemate a winning position". 🤣

Actually, looks like N5 can go anywhere and it's a stalemate.

A speedster, eh? Friend request sent. Looking forward to a match.
Played my 1st rapid in a while. I like bullet; it gets the blood pressure up and causes my to lose hair....wait....why do I like bullet?
Pretty chuffed for a win. Oddly gained 37 elo from that game, maybe due to the time off I had? Player wasn't rated all that much higher than I: them: 1230 me: 1206

Now 1243....which wont last long, I'm sure. 1245 was my highest rapid rating so that's within reach!

Hm. I thought I was just a casual player.

Your blitz and bullet are higher than mine have ever been. They are definitely fun. I've read numerous opinions that playing them can lead to bad habits and curtail growth overall. I don't know because I am an obsessed hobbyist at best, and no chess scholar. But whenever I spend considerable time with rapid, I always seem to advance quickly once I go back to bullet or blitz, until the inevitable next plateau.

So I have a new strategy. I'm playing lots of unrated games... in fact, mostly unrated the last couple weeks. I changed my rating range settings so the algorithm will pair me with people no lower than -25 my rating, but the sky is the limit. I have been crushed by a few 2000 rated players. But to my surprise, I have come away with a number of upsets against higher rated opponents, including one over 1800, which is the highest rated opponent by far that I have ever beaten (he blundered mate in two, and resigned, otherwise he was winning).

I just played my first ever "Caro Kann", at least as far as I know. It all started with a misclick, I meant to push c5, but went c6 by accident. This guy was only rated 133 point higher than me, not several hundred, but I think he got attacker's tunnel vision and blundered mate in an otherwise dominant position. This win felt good, especially because I almost resigned earlier in the game, until I reminded myself why I was there (to learn).
