What is your dream purchase for 2018

I may revise my pick as I just ran across the A.G. Russell Boxcar Jack Revised. That's a handsome little hobo knife and I'd love to carry one with a nice pocket slip.

I'm excited by several production folders that have been announced. My dream knife for this year is a custom fixed blade I've had in mind for some time. I was hoping to do it at the beginning of the year but the funds didn't pan out. Maybe by the end of the year.

What knife are you excited to buy this year or do you already have it?

Well to those who know my posts (much fooling around) and those who purchase higher end knives (I tend to be on the low end of the $ scale; never much over $300) this may seem like a joke but I am, for a change, being serious.

The top knife in the photo, a Boker Stockman in smooth red bone, has been an elusive must have for years. This year I finally was fully committed to do what ever it took to get this knife. I have ordered two before and they were both so seriously lacking I sent them back. Mostly the prob was both knives had bone scales that were more white, pink and anemic red than rich deep red but there were also super weak spring issues etc.
I ordered this third one and was going to dye the scales myself until they looked just like this, which is the way the Boker catalogue photo portrays the knife. I was even considering getting a custom maker to make a knife like this. But low and behold this third try looks exactly the way I want it to and has completely satisfied my NEED to own this knife. It is a purely aesthetic thing. I just really, really like the look of these deep red smooth scales. There were edge rap issues in this knife but finally, finally I fixed that. A fully functioning and aesthetically perfect user.

Ok that was knife number one . . . while I was futzing over that one I thunk up another knife that I decided I absolutely HAD TO HAVE. For a completely different reason. The red stockman was a looker. This next one was for pure use. How it would be to hold this one in my hand and use it. The pinnacle of knifeness once it was open and in use and once it was closed and in my pocket (the deployment and folding are the draw backs; it's a nail nick lock back / not the most fun to play with).

So what am I talking about ? ? ?
I wanted a Buck 110 that was preferably light weight but mostly I wanted one with lots of texture. Think KreyEx handle or at least diamond textured or checkered like a gun stock.

Then Buck just read my mind and made it . . . and if that wasn't enough . . . they put a price tag on it that was so inexpensive it was like they were paying me to carry it around.
DONE
I didn't even have to buy a stock 110 and start cutting texture in it or milling the sides and adding my own scales (which I may do one day . . . good or bad I'm all about KreyEx).

So the second Dream Purchase of 2018 for me is the Buck 110 LT !
So sweet to USE ! ! !
No kidding.

I have my dream knife being built now. It should be done in a couple weeks and has been in the works since fall. I have always liked DDR's dominator model but the AOD feels like its upgrade in every way. Can' wait to take delivery hopefully very soon.

Oh Ya! There will be plenty of pictures to drool over soon. I did find one picture of a past build they did that is most similar to mine.

...the best laid plans...oft go....crappy. Yes, I spent a lot of money for a small "massaged" fixed blade. I could have purchased a production model of something like it for about 1/2 the money. Was my idea. Still a nice knife, but a bit different than what I had in mind.
But, if ya don't try, you cannot win.

One of those dream knives that I'll probably never be able to get my hands on is a CD Shirogorov Ne0n or Hait0n (are they the same thing? are they different? I don't know..). Not only cause they're flipping expensive and rare, but where do people even go to get on their list??? It's still a mystery to me.

But coming back down to earth, I think the Benchmade 940dlc-1801 or the ZT0609blk would be a very pleasant dream addition to the roster.

Waiting for the Buck 110lt to show up in stores locally.
My local huge retailer has hundreds of them across Canada. Every store has a few. Weird that they aren’t everywhere in the US yet!

Just buy one. For $25-30, it is an amazing knife.

I'm shooting for a CRK Large Sebenza drop point, either 21 or 25.

Would love to pick up one of those oh so shiny Rocksteads or some form of Shiro but I think that would send me straight to my significant others hitlist. I'm not ready to die just yet lol.

I'd like the Cabela's 940 and a Bark River Essential in some kind of wood and 154cm. Nothing too crazy but I really like both of those...

For me, I'd just like to get my first benchmade. Have my eyes set on a grip or mini grip. Nothing fancy.

I've been considering a full custom from Gollik Knives for as long as I've been a member here. A few of his knives that hit the block peaked my interest, but I think I'd rather get one forged to fit me perfectly.

Other than that I've also been looking at Benchmade's Styker, the carbon fiber/M4 exclusive. If there's a prettier production knife out there, I haven't found it.
