What is your EDC history

So, I know there are already threads that allow you to post what you are carrying today but I thought it might be cool to let people list a history of what knives they have carried. I know some people have rotations that they carry and you can post those two. However, I personally find myself carrying one particular knife about 80% of the time. It has changed a little over time and since I have only been carrying a knife for about a year it will change much more in the future. So post a list of knives (you can post the amount of time you have carried each, I personally would say a started EDC would be something that you have carried about 80% of the time for at least two months) So I'll go first:

- Spyderco Delica 4
- Rotation of Benchmade Grip, Ontario Rat model 2, and kershaw blur.
- Spyderco PM2.

I would love to see the history of knives and how your preferences have evolved over time. I hope one day to have the money to safely afford a sebenza or some other high end knife but until then I am happy with my steel.

I went from rotating through these randomly...

To rotating through these nowadays...

These are all great knives, especially that Cruwear Manix:thumbup: but I've refined my tastes to certain designs.

Mostly, my recent change in career paths has lead me to being able to afford knives that I've always drooled over. Now that I'm able to afford such things, my taste has changed dramatically.

If I started collecting all over from scratch with a Delica or mini-grip or something, I'm sure my tastes would change in another direction yet again.

The trajectory was something like

Gerber Paraframe/Vic Super Tinker --> Delica/Native/Rat 1 & 2/Blur --> Mini Grip/Techno/Sage/BM 707 Sequel --> Mini Ritter Grip/BM 940/ BM 585 --> ZT 0770CF, etc.

There are several that I'm leaving out but none that really fall into "expensive" territory.

Is that a Lionsteel Opera? Don't see many guys with those, how do you like it?

Me- Scout pattern Imperial->leatherman->gerber gator->Kershaw chive->Kershaw Blur->BM minigrip->Spydie Delica->Various single blade GECs->Strider SnG->CRK Small Seb.

With lots of others for shorter periods and some for special stuff like a Tasman salt on my pfd, stuff like that.

My EDC rotation a Leatherman ALX and TTI, a Benchmade 551, 550, 910 and 530, and two Spyderco Manix 2's both in S30V.

I would like to add some new knives to the collection but I am kind of stuck on the axis/caged ball bearing locks and I don't really know of any other companies that offer similar locks for under $150.

For me it all started with carrying the same junk dull as a rock M-tech for years. Then one day I bought a Buck 110 which started my appreciation for quality knives. I carried that for a good year or so. This was also the knife that I started to learn how to sharpen on. Then I switched jobs and found the 110 to be a little large, so I picked up a Leek. At the time I thought of these 2 knives as the bees knees(and still really appreciate them for what they are). They were the absolute best knives I had ever handled. This is where I really took off. I carried the Leek for a few months, then I went through a few months ordering a new knife every couple of weeks. I went through a BM909, Mini Grip, Hogue EX01, PM2, and finally settled on a Sebenza. I've carried the Sebenza almost non stop for a good 8~ months.
The knives I currently rotate through are
Lg. Sebenza 21
Reate Hills
Fantoni HB01
PM2
and an Esee 4 if I want a fixed
There were quite a few more knives, but those are the only ones worth mentioning. Now my wish lists include everything from a Delica all the way up to customs(like blues' sweet Thorburn) and Shiros. Thankfully my buying pattern has slowed down a lot. That junk was getting unreal. I wasn't sure if I would ever shake that madness.

Cool topic. I carried multi tools for most of my life starting when I was a kid in the scouts. Only recently have I started carrying a locking folder consistently.

Leatherman PST
Vixtorinox Tinker
Case Trapper
Gerber EZout
Buck Bucklite
Leatherman Wave
Victorinox Farmer
Benchmade Griptillian
Benchmade Contego

Most days I have one of the Benchmades and one of the Victorinox in my pocket. The leatherman usually only make the cut when I head out of the city.

My list of EDC folders:

BM Barrage 585
ZT0350CF
Strider SnG CC BLK SW Spear Point
Currently carrying ZT620 BW that bumped the SnG out of my pocket.

I actually wrote this all down the other day as I was curious as well. I'll post it later tonight, possibly with pictures if I'm feeling saucy.

For a long time the only knife I carried was a Wenger Esquire, which I wore on a cord around my neck--didn't even know the phrase "neck knife" at the time.
Eventually, I got a S&W Baby SWAT frame lock that I carried for about a year.
Then I got a BM Mini Grip. Eventually I gave that to my sister. Not long after that I got another Mini Grip to replace the one I gave away.
Sometime after that the opportunity to get a Spyderco Delica presented itself and I jumped on it. Carried that along with the Mini Grip for a long while.
Somewhere in there, I also occasionally carried a CRKT Carson F4.
After almost losing the Delica several times, I replaced it with an Ontario RAT 2. Carried that along with the Mini Grip. Somewhere along the way replaced the F4 with a CRKT Folts Minimalist. Carry that every day on a cord around my neck no matter what else I have with me.
One day I saw the Cold Steel Hold Out knives and liked the sgian dubh influence; got a Hold Out III.
Recently I got a CS Secret Edge for the same reason.
I probably should also include here the Vic Huntsman that lives in a pouch clipped to the strap of the bag I carry.

I've been through so many bleeding knives since my youth it isn't funny. Everything listed has either been sold, traded, given away, lost, or stolen, except where noted.

1959 - Cub Scout multi-blade
1963 - Mercator "Cat" knife
1963 - 2014 Over 700 different folders, mostly production
2015 - Mostly a custom Crawford Perseco or KFF or custom CQC-8

My first was a sprint Manix 2 in CTS-BD30. It was also the first knife I ever owned.

For a few months I carried a Benchmade 530 every day. It was my first Benchmade.

I became fascinated with Microtech for a good while. During that time I rotated between a Halo III, a Combat Troodon, an oldschool '96 L-UDT, and a '99 Kestrel.

Now I carry an Emerson CQC-9.

1980-81, Old Barlow
1982ish-84, various knives, some 112 copies
1984ish-1990, Frost Balisong I picked up at a flea market
1990-1991, EKA Nor Mark
1991-1992 the dark ages, think I had my old Vic that was a Xmas present from earlier
1993-2000, Spyderco era, couple of Delicas, a Q
2000-2004, a Delta Z linerlock and a Kershaw Chive on rotation
2004-Present, lots of stuff.

This is all very recent.

In chronological order:

Kershaw chill
Kershaw volt ss
BM minigrip
Paramilitary 2
BM 943
Large sebenza 21
Small sebenza 21
Sebenza 25
Strider SnG
Umnumzaan

Most of them are gone now.
Today I'm carrying a rockstead higo.

Forgot to mention I won an ESEE Zancudo here on BF, which I gave to a family friend's son for his high school graduation.

I carried a Benchmade AFCK 800 for 20 years and after two tip snaps I decided to retire it.

Since then I have tried carrying

Benchmade 940
Onterio Rat 1
Onterio Utilitac 2
Kershaw Chill
Kershaw Nerve
Spyderco PM2
Byrd Cara Cara

Nice knives, but none has measured up to my ol' AFCK in my opinion. I'm carrying the Cara Cara as the closest substitute and as time goes by I'm warming to it. I think I may give a Spyderco Stretch a chance next before I settle down and marry one for the next 20 years.

Well if its history, mine would be evolving from United Cutlery, BudK gas station...my first Spyderco Manix, Benchmade Presidio, Lerch Subrosa, Zt 560..more Zts, Spydercos ...CRK Sebenza.

Funny my accumulation of multiple knives seems to have coincided with my lurking here in the early 2000's. I lurked until I had a desk job then created an account haha. My current EDC is a Sage2. I will keep one knife in my pocket for many months or a couple years then I find another one to start researching. I am not an impulse buyer.
