This photo is sort of a history over a period of over 30 years.
I received the little black slipjoint from my grandfather when I was about 12.
The yellow slipjoint was handed down from my father, with a broken main blade. I blunted the blade so it would work as a screwdriver and carried it as a multitool when I worked in a garage.
After college I used the Buck Prince as an EDC.
Not pictured is my Gerber LST that I used as an EDC for a few years.
The SOG was my first thumb stud knife.
The Cold Steel next to it has San Mai steel. I didn't know much about knives so I asked a knife dealer what knife he had with the best steel, he sold me this one.
The Spyderco Goddard was my first modern knife- pocket clip and one-hand opening, micarta scales.
From there the mini-AFCK was a fully modern knife, its liner lock being the last of the missing features.
The Edge Design Genesis II was bought for its size and features. The only thing against it was the bead blasted blade that promoted blade staining.
I bought the Leek with S30V steel and polished G10 as an elegant EDC to the office but I was afraid I would break the blade so I never carried it.
The mini-grip was bought as a utility EDC in a period when I wasn't that focused on knives.
Then about 5 years ago I got interested in knives again and my collection exploded. Right now I have 10+ knives in my EDC rotation.
