When I go looking for a new knife I look at Case first, then others, so apparently I am more fond of them.

I voted Case, but of the others I have owned, they all are equal and come in a very, very close second... Second to Case only because I've used and carried mine from them the longest and hardest, and know very well the quality.

I will add in here hat I am extremely fond of Rough Rider, great build, and low price or trying new patterns without spending a fortune.

Using the "If you could only have access to one brand" logic I chose Case.
My current favorite production is a Queen, and the next one on my list is a GEC, but Case would be the one brand to keep if you had to forsake all others.
I guess that makes it my favorite.

This was a tough one. I have great knives in Case, S&M, Schrade, and most recently GEC. They are all outstanding! I picked Queen because I found that in my fave rotation I have more Queens than any of the rest. This of course is counting the SFOs made by them (Cozy Glens and Winchesters). If I had to pick just one knife however, my choice would be a different one...I think:D

I voted for case. I like their style even as some of theirs some unabashedly corny (green john deere, johny cash, etc) But I like that. They reach out and make the slippie more then just a tool. I started with Shrades but no point voting for a dead brand. They were always middle of the road anyway. Buck. I like Buck and notice their slippies took over shrades place at hard wear stores and walmart just as shrade was on the way out the door. They innovated and came out with new designs. But they also moved production to China. If Buck brings production back to USA, I doubt I could resist the urge to pick one up every time I oggle one at a Walmart.

...

I like the fact that they use D2, but I don't like the idea that they can't send out a knife with an edge on it.... IMHO its totally inexcusable.

I would probably pick up a Queen, but I refuse to until they can up their standards. Unless its a 1095 version.. Granted, that seems to be the only complaint with Queens that we read about. Everything else seems to be good YMMV

Actually, for quite some time now many people, myself included, who have purchased NEW Queens have said that there was no problem with the out-of-box edge. However, their reputation for dull knives keeps getting repeated over and over by mostly the same handful of members to the point where it becomes universally accepted as fact.

I guess I am probably guilty of that...

I dunno. I have have 3 Queen knives that I have bought in the last 12 months. None was what I would call "sharp" out of the box.

I will say that one of the ones that I bought was an older Queen and it took more work than the newer ones. But none of them would have passed for Benchmade sharp or Spyderco sharp out of the box.

There is a big difference between

That's all I am saying.

I don't think any Queens or Cases or Bucks etc are "Spyderco Sharp" out of the box, but my 4 or 5 Queens that I have bought within the last several years have been nowhere near as bad as some people would have us believe.

From my extensive reading of old threads, it seems that Queen did have some edge problems back with the Curly Maple line. But it also seems that they have made some improvements since then and yet the people who keep bringing up the past problems drown out the people commenting on the current quality to the point where people who have never even handled a Queen are repeating the "horrible edge" story.

PS- I am not picking on you, 338375, it happens all the time. I just finally decided to express my observations in this thread. ;)

I would have to say Case then Buck. I also give honorable mention to Rough Rider due to their affordability.

No worries.

Queen make some fine sheath knives in D2, in oak or two types of maple in three differnent blade patterns.

Those are some nice lookin knives. Nicely priced too

Unfortunately Carl Schlieper (German Eye) wasn't listed! So I voted GEC. For me it would be a toss-up between these two brands anyway.

My dad always said that Case is the best, and I can't get that out of my head. I do have a few Queens that I like very much, several Vic SAKs, and a very nice Schrade, but Case remains my favorite.

Well it seems that Case seems to be the brand on top. Very interesting but not to surprising if you think about it. They are such an older brand and have been around forever, what do you expect?

I just put Case.

They got me into this mess.

It is Case's fault primarily, but I can blame Queen, Schatt and Schrade to name a few.

OF COURSE:D My first real pocket knife. still have it too:thumbup:
They were the giant of the american cutlery scene, they made knives for alot of the names on that list. They offered a wide variety of quality products at all different price points and til they closed in 2007 they were one of the oldest in the country. Miss them everytime i handle one of my old camillus knives:(
they are the one brand i always search for when i'm out and about.
A close second for me is Case:thumbup: but i'm relatively new to case:)

Queen for its F&F, D2 steel, price, and range of patterns.

I wish they would have more choices of bone, wood or delrin.
They have stopped introducing a new range each year.

Schatt & Morgan is also Queen, and they are excellent
I wish they would expand their range of steels
