What is your favorite G-shock model?

Hello,

I have a question about the lighting feature on the new GShocks.

How sensitive is the mechanism that causes the light to go on? For example, if I sleep on my side and then turn to my back in the middle of the nicht, does it turn on? Or if I go to drink a glass of water and it's dark, does it come on because I tilt my wrist?

FWIW, I always wear my watch with face facing down, in the direction of my palm. Does this affect the mechanism?

BIG THANKS

Downloaded an instruction manual in English, the one that came with it was in japanese. It specifically says to not wear it in the direction of your palm if you are going to use the feature. You can turn the feature off.

I have the feature to not be extremely sensitive. You have to hold then light parallel to the ground and then tilt it back towards you.

If you want to read the manual go to http://www.casio.co.jp/pdf/index_e.html and type in 2597 for the module number.

Didn't know you could turn the feature off. I'm hooked. Thanks again for the follow up.

I have a navy blue DW-9050 and it serves me well. The phonebook is also useful as I tend to lose my mobile fairly often  .

One big problem I have is that the date is written 'month-day' as opposed to the slightly more logical 'day-month'. I wouldn't mind normally, but it's supposed to be set for London time (not American :().

It also doesn't act as an infra red remote control like my other Casio watch...but that's what I have two wrists for anyway!

I like this one!

You can probably reset that to show the date the way you want it. Try the instructions ... although they're often pretty incomprehensible....

 Like the G- shock but don't like the "rubber" type band. Any help? :)

Soli DEO Gloria,

Presbo :D

Some G-shocks have a nylon type band. I am trying to find out if they will fit on other G-shocks and if they are available. I would like to put a nylon band on mine.

Also a few of the G-Shocks i've seen have stainless steel and I thinkg even Titanium bands. Don't know any model numbers though.

I kinda likes the new one out, it's set by the atomic clock in Fort Collins, CO and is ALSO solar. Kinda low maintenance and pretty darn accurate:)

I have the same G-Shock that Golok shows in his post, except mine is plain black and not camo.

One thing that's kind of dumb about this model is that the temperature measurement is not accurate when the watch is worn on the wrist. To get an accurate temperature reading the watch has to be off the wrist and sitting by itself away from any heat source, including the watch wearer's skin, that might affect the sensor. Still, it's an amusing little toy.

My first G-Shock is a DW-6900 I have had it for 4 years and the battery is still going fine and it has held up to some major abuse,One time my horse had stepped on it I thought for sure it was crushed,he weighs about 900-1000 pounds,it didnt even phase it.
I also have a DW-9050 which I like very much, havent had it to long but its held up great,I also like the phone log it has.

The thing I notice about my old one verse my new one is the old one seems like it is built like a tank, the band doesne even move it just wraps around your wrist, where is the new one the band moves back and forth.Either way there G-SHOCKS and there the best for strength IMHO

G2500v... They sell them in different color faces and "camo"-type double velcro bands. Very cool.

They're not easy to find though...

flashbang, that one set me back $105 from an e-bay dealer. They were just released to the retail sector last week. I know as I tried obtaining it locally(NYC) but to no avail. It should be in circulation at retailers pretty soon. This guy must have been at the unloading dock or something. FYI: the casio model no is GW-300CA-1VCR.

Hey Colt, tell me it ain't so. You got the same one I have pictured above for $68? Is it both solar and atomic (wave ceptor) model G-Shock? They make a non-G Shock version, also a solar wave ceptor(atomic) for about 70. Just curious if I have been "duped". On my last trip to Wally World, about a week ago, they didn't have ANY solar Casios on display.

It sure is Bro. I just happen to go into Waly World Sat. and there it was. The girl said they just got them in and only had two. They were kind of hidden in the back. I was shocked also as I had just bid on one on ebay at $85 bucks. But it is the Model 2608. She also said not all of the stores may have them yet so it may be hit and miss. If anyone wants one drop me a line and I can see if I can get one for you. As there are about 5 Wal-Marts in my area.

I just picked up the solar/atomic G-Shock at Costco today for $50! No, that's not a typo... Costco is amazing! I'm in Houston, BTW>
