What is your favorite handle material?

I prefer pretty jigged bone first. To me it is most "at home" on a slipjoint, then colorful pearl or Abalone--plain white won't get it, then colorful Giraffe bone or gorgeous stag...common stag won't get it either. No synthetics on slipjoints for me... with the exception of antique micarta, the rest of that stuff belongs on some high tech wannabe switch blade as far as I'm concerned :D

As far as wood is concerned, I've learned to like some of it, but I wouldn't carry a stabilized wood knife.

I'm with Pete1977. I like the Delrin, especially when its new and I think Pearl shell looks so so good!. But I am not into black lip and I have seen bone I like. I hate when a supply catalog shows a certain color and cut of bone in a photo and then they don't have a catlog number for it and then you call and they do not have anything like that and never did!

I like stag, but it's tough when getting it by mail order. You don't get to pick yours out.

I'm amazed that nobody has posted who likes wood. I wonder why that is. Maybe it's because it hasn't been used as much as other materials? Maybe because it tends to be softer? I love the look and feel of wood. My favourite pocket knife is a Boker with rosewood scales.

P.S. Durwood, what don't you like about stabilized wood?

cocobolo, desert iron wood or malachite (for looks but probably too fragile for practical use)

In general my favorite is an old smooth bone as seen on vintage Russell's. But my two favorite knives have handles of walrus ivory and a camillus with real dinosaur bone handles that my dad gabe me with all of the paper work but no box.
