What is your favorite knife from PCKS?

I would have to say that so far my favorite is stag, nickle-silver and gray ionfussion.

I'm just curious what materials everyone thinks looks the best in person, because I am sure the pictures on the web site don't do the materials justice.

Well, so far I have 2 in BG-42 steel, one with buffalo horn scales and the other with stag, both w/o rivets and w/nickel silver.
I think the stag scaled one is a bit nicer, the buffalo horn has grooves milled in it that (IMO)
detract from what would've been nice shiny black horn.(it's still really nice tho)
I've been thinking about getting the damascus blade next, wish I could see one in person to judge which scale material to pair it with. Anyone else out there have any damascus from Pete's ?

My favorite is stag, finger groove, nickel silver, bg-42. But I only have one.

Well, my favorite is my first, which I just got today, and has been on my belt since I got home from work

Indigo Royalwood Finger groved scales, Nickel bolsters, and BG-42 blade. A little stiff when I got it, but some lubricant and effort, and now it's smooth.

I have a feeling this will be my favorite knife for a long time, at least until I get my next one from Petes.

I also would like to know what you guys think of the damascus. It's 1095, right?

Maybe damascus and red bone would be nice. Is the red bone similar to that used by Case?

By the way, congratulations on your new knife Folsom! My daily carry is indigo royal and BG-42. It's a heck-of-a-knife!

It is a heck of a knife. I don't think I've ever had a knife that was so sharp out of the box. It wouldn't take a Sherlock Holmes to figure out I'm a left handed knife enthusiast by looking at the hair on my arms!

In searching back through the forums I found some info on the damascus, which seemed very positive. I think my next one will be Water Buffalo, damascus, and silver bolsters. (or maybe Champaigne BuckCote, Cherrywood, brass bolsters, or maybe ...)

I'd have to say my favorite is the mother of pearl handled one my wife got me for Christmas. The pearl is just so beautiful on a knife this size. It has nickle silver bolsters and no rivets, BG-42 blade engraved with the date 12-25-00 and the bolsters on one side are engraved with my name.

By the way, I did recieve it a couple months early so we could take the knife to the Covington show last October.

What are those grooves in the Buffalo horn? It doesn't show up on the web page, but I sort of see them in some of the pictures posted. Why are they there?

Al,
When I ordered my 110 with the buffalo horn, I asked for the finger grooved version, but didn't think the grooves would be on the handle scales as well as the frame. The grooves DO make for a secure grip, no question about that. But, I'd like my next knife with the buffalo horn to be smooth. Guess I'll have to talk to Pete about it BEFORE I send my order in

, as we all know what happens when we assume!

I think I'm gonna go for the damascus blade and, if possible, smooth black buffalo horn scales, with the nickel silver bolsters.
That ought to look pretty nice.

Hi Arrow, how's it going.

I got one almost like yours except with damascus. I'm really pleased with it.

Pete's is great, would like to see them expand into the 500 series though

The Stag, FG, NS, BG-42, no rivets. Seems my knife has some clones out there! I'll second the blade sharpness observation. Hair just doesn't stand a chance. Great work, Pete. Would like to see the 112 offered at the "Shoppe."

NavAv from Ridgecrest, eh? You didn't happen to go through TPS did ya? Or are you with one of the VX's?

All you guys talking about the stag, damascus, BG42, etc., are REALLY makin' me want one of these myself. Oh how I wish they were offered in a 500 series....

Well, other than going to Meeting Sunday morning, I still haven't taken off my new custom 110, with the royalwood finger-grooved scales, and the BG-42 blade. If I weren't concerned about what my meeting would think about me carrying three knives, I wouldn't have taken it off the belt even then
wink.gif

Here are the Pete's combinations I'm considering:

Champaign BuckCote, Serrated, with checkered cherrywood scales and brass bolsters.

Water buffalo scales, finger grooved, damascus blade, Nickel bolsters.

Red Horn scales, Gray Buckcote blade (Serrated) Nickel Bolsters.

Oak scales, nickel bolsters, Damascus blade (A "user" damascus?)

Stag with something, does it look better with Nickel? What blade material would look good?

This is too much fun! Help me choose my next one! Or at least don't tell my wife what I have in mind...

Am I the only one that loves those beautiful brass bolters? My favorite is the BG 42, stag handle with the brass bolsters, no finger grooves and of course no rivets.

Hey, RS, I have a post on the NS,FG,BG-42 with pics you might be interested in. Mike O did the pictures for me.
As for the TPS or VXs, no, but I was stationed at NAF China Lake for a few years before I retired. Great life if you keep the shiny side up. Ev.

Oh, OK, cool. I thought I might know you if you came through one of those organizations.

Off to check out that other thread....

Does anyone have any pictures of the green camo scales, or the Gold Buckcote blade on a 110? Does the Gold look good or clash with the brass bolsters?

As a scoutmaster, I always need a useful knife around, and it helps if it is easily identifiable as mine, so it doesn't wander away
wink.gif

I was wondering about the above combination, green and gold are good scout colors, and I can be pretty sure no one else around will have one!

Peace,

Al Folsom

Just my $0.02

One knife that I saw that impressed me quite a bit was an order placed in the early days of the shoppe.

BG-42 / NS / Checkered Herritage Walnut.

Checkered wood is only available without rivets and finger grooves, so it makes for a simple design, but at the same time a very nice look and a user knife.
