I had a thought while reading another thread to ask...

What is your favorite knife handle material? I will let you decide between looker and user.

My favorite knife handle is polished sun bleached elk...followed by bark mastodon ivory. Not sure why those two are not reversed but it is what it is. My third favorite is the golden and somewhat translucent/3D Desert Ironwood

Well, Before the other art critics get going on this I will get my two cents in.............My favorite is ............................. 30 year old Delrin.........

or really well matched stag, elk even better. On little knives mis-matched stag really stands out...........you can't shake a stick at your translucent ironwood and koa.................300Bucks

I prefer well matched Elk on folders and Mule Deer on fixed blades. Desert Ironwood is right in there also for user knives.

I've never owned a bone-handled knives, so I can't really speak to them. The indigo royalwood on the Custome Shoppe is very attractive looking, and I have a soft spot for smooth linen micarta.

For me it would be some real nice dark bumpy sambar stag,it makes an excellent grip ,and for a looker i would say mother of pearl, its very pretty .

My favorit handle material is stacked birch skin followed by stag without bark.

Best,

Joe, I am very glad and proud that you like the knife. The northern Scandinavians use birch skin often for knife handles. I got another 119 blade and I like to use the birch skin for its handle too, together with mastodon ivory. But it needs a time because I have to clean up the blade first and I don't have the needful knowledge. let's see how it works.

Best,
Haebbie

Thanks for asking CJ.
I prefer Sambar, Ram, or Koa. Depends on what day of the week it is I guess. But, I really like the Ram.

If I HAD to choose just one if stranded on a tropic isle w/ topless natives (female), lots of fish, a case or two of SPAM, a case or two more of Bud Light, and coconut palms and nice beaches...it would be the G-10. Takes a lickin'.
