Well I am sure that there are plenty of threads that go on like this one, but this is not for the sake of curiosity. I fell out of touch with the whole knife news, etcetera a few years back. And I want to see what has changed becuase I am hoping on buying possibly a microtech or a benchmade Axis lock in M-2 steel. But I have also noticed that alot of new companies also make good knives, and I want to get everyones 2 cents on it, so I can make an informed decision.

P.S. For anyone who has been at bladeforums for a few years, I used to be a member that posted fairly regularly called "Eric Cain." Just seeing if anyone remembers me.

That would have to be the Microtech LCC M/A. It was my edc until about a month and a half ago when I picked up my large Sebenza. Great knife. I think you should get one.

Microtech LCC M/A

Emerson CQC7 with the wave option

As you mentioned, any of the Benchmade axis lock knives. The 710 is highly regarded by many around here. It's not my style though. I'd go for the 720, or even the 722, even though it's basically a CQC7 minus chisel grind, plus axis lock.

All of the above go for roughly the same price. But I'd say the best value among them is definitely the LCC.

Several of the CRKT issues come to mind: Crawford/Kasper, Viele Wasp, and Ryan #7, along with the Kershaw M4380 Doublecross.

There have been alot of good knives that have come out in the last 3 years. My favourites are the Microtech L.C.C., the Camillus EDC, and several CRKT models like the Crawford/Kasper, Tighe Tac, etc...

The Axis locks are great (710 and 940 being my favorites) as are the Microtechs, but right now I am enamored with a Kershaw Boa. 440V, nice recurve, solid constuction and really pops open with the torsion bar assist. Very nicely done and tons of fun.

I like the BK&T line from Camillus. I think that Will Fennel & Co. have been the most innovative knife Co. around over the last couple of years.

Make mine Microtech LCC. One of the finest creations to emerge in recent years.

BM 42!

Well, it's the most fun I've had with a knife in the past 3 years at least!

Here are a few you should take a look at:
Microtech LCC D/A and M/A
Benchmade 710, 940
Camillus EDC, Talon, and Mini Talon
Kershaw Boa

There are so many others, and you haven't even started on customs ;).

Hi,

it is certainly Spyderco CHINOOK. Heavy, sturdy,
premium CPM 440V steel, MBC (Martial Blade Craft) standard, great defense and outdoor knife, VERY strong lock. Chinook is my EDC (jeans) besides my Spyderco's Wegner Jr. (in ATS-34). The last one, being small, is always my EDC.

Regards,

Franco

In my opinion, the BM705! Second only to the small Sebenza for being the finest production pocket knife in existence on today's market (IMHO of course).

Professor.

Since I'm more of a fixed blade fan, my favorite to come out in the last three years - ta da - the Busse Basic #7. Good value and one tough, sharp knife in my opinion. If I had to choose a folder - BM 710.

Tough question.

50/50 between the Spyderco Military (Formite inlay model)
and my Large plain Sebi MM Classic number 6-50
