What is your favorite production company right now? Why?

I'm going to have to go with Benchmade. I have just always liked thier products ever since I bought my first one and I personally have never gotten one with bad QC. I just got my newest BM a Axis AFCK 3 days ago and love it. The Axis lock is one of the best if not the best locks out now. I really the Axis lock. These and other reasons are why I pick Benchmade.

Kershaw - because right now they are offering a hell of a lot of knife for the $$$. I just hope that they come out with some higher end stuff soon. :)

Having just found my true love in the knife world, i.e. the Chinook, I gotta say Spyderco.

Followed very closely by CRKT, for the money they are hard to beat.

Benchmade, AXIS lock rocks. Takin' a look at Cold Steel's swords. CRKT has good stuff. Just got my first MT-superb LCC. Looks like I gotta give Camillus a gander.

I am buying and trading for more Spyderco knives than any other company right now, followed by Camillus.

Spydies are the best knives for the price on the market. Their new locks will move them even further ahead when they replace the liner locks on some current models. In addition, Sal and his team offer great service.

CRKT is a distant second. I like their knives (if only they had a hole...), but their steel is usually on the poorer end of things.

I still have to tip my hat to Spyderco, they continue
to come up with new and unique desings, and yet they
keep the cost where a working slob can afford one.
Great company, great products.

Can't go wrong with Camillus. It looks like Will Fennell's input has been very positive. Also, kudos to BM to being much more responsive to input from the ultimate user. Of course, CRK , it goes without saying.

I agree with just about everything everyone has said about Camillus. They are coming out with some great stuff.

For fixed blades, I like Marbles better than any other production knife company. Great traditional styles, my favorite steel(52100), and full convex grinds. I do a lot of hunting, and Marbles makes fixed blades that are practical and that will do the job well. They also come from the factory about as sharp as any knife you can buy.

Spyderco has the hole, still #1. But....

Chris Reeve is putting out the best thumbstud design I have ever handled. They also have something that no other "production" company has figured out - which is the "renewable" concept of making knives from materials and using techniques that allow the knife to be made virtually like new for less than the cost of buying a cheap production knife.

Chris Reeve Knives...Simplicity and function. Knives that are designed and intended to be used.

Spyderco comes in second for innnovation, value, and variety. Spyderco sharpeners are hard to beat.

My vote goes to Spyderco. The reason I like Spyderco knives is because every one I have owned or held is high quality. The Spyderco line has many different choices to fit almost any task. I love Spyderco knives hands down. The only thing about a Spyderco knife that has made me frown is that they discontinued our mutual favorite the Wegner, and that is it. I will get over it, since I do have a NIB spare.

I've yet to buy a Marble's knife*, due to the tiny guards on most models. This might change as Tactical Knives magazines says Marble's is about to come out with two new models, both with ample double guards. Until then I will stick to Cold Steel, despite Marble's superior steel and grinds.

* I might have one Marble's - I've read speculation that my new Blackjack Trail Guide was made by Marble's.

Let's see, I love my Sebbies, Microtech LCC, BM 710HS and Spyderco Wegner. All some of the finest production folders the world has seen. Love my Marbles fixed blades as well. But right now, Camillus has to be my favorite production company and I don't even own one of their knives  I guess this is because they have more knives on my "want" list than any other company and show no signs of letting up. Their EDC is a great knife and is available in a variety of steels (and Talonite), the D2 Arclite is definitely worthwhile, the Becker line has a couple of personal picks and the new OVB line will only get better as more offerings become available (boy, am I waiting for a really nice slipjoint to debut  ). I just think that they are building a very complete line of reasonably priced, high performance knives to cover all of the bases. While not the best in any one category (except maybe the Fisk) IMO, they offer a very capable knife for almost any category you care to mention. And they have the support and leadership of one of the most capable and involved people in the knife world, Will Fennell. All this adds up to a company that offers great products, great prices and innovation and as a result are on the rise in these times when many are struggling to stay in the black.

Oh yeah, I just bought my Mom a Camillus carving set for Christmas :D

Just gotta love Benchmade. Can't beat the axis lock. I also love my "poor man's sabenza" (750)
