I have been wanting to try one for a long time and bought a Epoch and a K-3 here on the forum. I also traded for a Kirby lambert Augustus here on the forum. What is your favorite Reate knife and do you think I will like them? Let not get into a pissing war. I like US and Russian knives. I am a big ZT and spyderco fan and like Microtech and Guardian Tactical OTF.

I’m a fan of the Horizon A and B. I know they have more recent knives, but the Horizon knives were the original designs that said “Reate has arrived” as a knife maker. The quality of fit and finish really changed the game for production knives.

I love the quality and action of Reate Knives, but they’ve yet to offer a design that was actively good at cutting. They insist on stupid thick blade stock. A knife that doesn’t cut is pocket ballast.

I’m happy to own the Reates that I have. In my opinion, they need to learn that the primary purpose of a pocket knife is to cut. Some of their collabs are better, but the original designs don’t work.

A knife has to cut. The action and fit of Reate knives are exemplary, the performance is barely middlin.

Its funny one of my first modern folders was the Reate Epoch and it still is one of my smoothest flippers though I own higher end blades like Shiros and CRK. The pocketclip with the ball is the easiest to remove from my pocket. They make a great knife I thought about pulling the trigger on a new Gen Reate Jack.

...I really hope someone says the K2. I'd love to hear more about that knife before I pull the trigger...

Ive had a few of them, right now i only have the Lambert crossroads, which is at an incredible level thats hard to beat.the fit finish floating backspacer, flipping action, i highly recommend that one,but you really cant go wrong with whatever one you pick.

I just order a Reate Lambert Crossroads. Can't wait till it gets here.

Can it be Reate built?

If so I love my Pena X-Series Lanny Clips, the Pena X-Series Mini-Diesel, my Liong Mah Lanny’s Clip and Traveler.

If sticking to Reate designs, I love my Wave and Horizon-D... Either way, Reate Designs or collaborations, Reate has been killing it the last couple of years!

I forgot about the Pena X-Seies Bronco but I’m not sure if it is made by Reate or not. It has an extremely strong backspring, similar in effort as the JE Made knifes so there might be some connection there?

I love my Reate built Giantmouse Ace Sonoma, particularly after I learned how to fit a deep carry pocket clip.

Agreed. IMO: Lanny=great. SBD Void=great. SBD Evo Typhoon=great. Eric Ochs Lynx=great.

If I had to pick one, probably the Liong Mah XV. I don't own one anymore but I still think about picking one up again sometimes.

The sbd evo is great, the void is even better.
I’m waiting on liong mah’s 18. It’ll be a good one for sure.
Also, I’m thinking of grabbing a wingman yurei.
