What is your favorite SOG knife ?

The Vulcan is one of my favorite folding knife designs, period, and definitely my favorite SOG. On the opposite end of the spectrum, another favorite is the Salute, although I bought it more as a "high value" folder . . . which really only applies if paying under $25 or so for one. I own several others (Field Pup, Seal Pup, Mini Pentagon, Spec Elite I, Trident and Mini Trident) but don't consider them anything special.
 
My only sog currently is an old Seal Pup in aus-6 made in seki city. My uncle bought it for me so its more sentimental than practical. Use aus-8 steel and not have a 1" useless choil and I'd use it every day...I'm not buying a seal pup elite either.
 
I own a lot of SOGs. Mostly fixed blades and older Seki models. I did carry a FLash II for three years daily. That is the knife that got me into knives. Currently I have been EDCing a Pentagon II which is a beast of a knife. My most used SOG fixed blade is a Seal Team. It is a great utility knife.

Like the old Seki models.
Have to agree they were premium priced cutlery way back then.
But it's simply unrealistic to do so in these current times.
Especially with a largely meh product line in this post Seki period.
So I'll stick with the older designs as something having more form, substance and maturity in approach.
Naturally I Do like the vision folders, the seal pups, revere the faceted sog bowies;
And need less to say, I find the new design direction going way off on a tangent
In all, a far cry from the well thought of concept of continuity seen in the Seki originals.
I figure a any new collaborations would have to pay tribute to this legacy if any sense is to come from the current train of thought in form and function.

The Twitch 2 was the only decent knife I ever got from SOG. Very reliable, small edc. The other 5 SOG knives I bought are in a junk drawer separate from my collection.
 
I agree with girly Mann. Some call it overpriced, but you have to shop around. People judge their webpage for their prices, but I have paid nowhere near that. Ever. My Vulcan tanto full size? $65. My Spec Elite 1, $55. All new. My Aegis full size? $35. Flash II, $35. Again, all new. This was about 1-2 years ago, but my point is you have to look around. I personally like their Arc lock folders. Never had an issue with the lock or the mechanism.

Their newer line up of Chinese models makes me a bit sick to my stomach. I know that they're doing for the price conscious consumer, but it's giving them a bad name in the process. Since it's easily more affordable, people buy them faster and then they break, chip, etc. they are low grade Chinese steel, of course it is. Then they come on here, or YouTube and give negative reviews about them thus making bad publicity.

I hope they focus on better Japan made blades, like all the arc lock folders. They haven't for awhile. They need to revamp their line up a bit.
 
crabytab, at this point, im not sure whether youre just a giant douche or decent dude, but you obviously own a lot of sog knives, i was thinking about getting a SOG force, i believe you have one, whats your thoughts on the knife?
 
My Seki SOGs rank high in my collection among my Spydercos, Benchmades, and ZTs. My fav would have to be the Tomcat 3.

Got it new from the Bay for $115. I just sharpened it the other day on my Lansky, and the recurve made no difference. I realize that I don't need a knife enough to carry one with a pocket clip in my front pocket so it sits in my back right pocket, tip up, next to my wallet. The Kraton handle fills my hand nicely. The arc lock is just as smooth and easy to operate as my Benchmade axis lock. I'm not sure why SOG don't get no love around here, but I for one am glad that I gave them a shot.
 
I love my SOG Bluto more than ALL of my knives. It's smooth as glass and built like a tank. I also like that nobody ever brings it up... I feel like I'm in on a secret.
