Mine are Mariage Freres and Harney and Sons, loose leaf black teas. Any tea drinkers here?

Plain old Lipton. Although we get some generic brand at work.

I grew up drinking almost nothing but tea. We'd easily go through a gallon a day if not more.

Luzziane for my unsweetened ice tea.
Hot tea, it's the Irish Breakfast tea, comes in a green box, can't think of the brand. Tetley's maybe?
Herbal, I go for Sleepytime.

Another Lipton drinker here. Make a big pot in the morning, and hit on it through the day. If I leave the house I'll take a small Nissan thermos of it to the range with me, or out on the water in the boat.

I grew up in an Irish household with a pot of tea standing by. Plain old black tea is good to go down the road with.

Used to be in the tea biz so know a thing or two but what got me to DRINK it was going off coffee a few years ago. My wife favors Genmai Cha for work and Organic Jade Mist for home. I favor black tea, primarily Chinese Keemun or Yunnan.

BUT for a quick cuppa, I also have a big box of Trader Joe's Irish Breakfast in those round tea bags. These and the Genmai Cha bags go with us on camping trips and while traveling.

Boy, once you go off coffee even having a sip is a rude awakening! :barf:

Iced (boiled) tea: Lipton (orange pekoe & pekoe cut black) Makes the best sweetea in the world, IMHO. (It is spelled "sweetea". It's a southern thang.) Red Rose: good, but 2nd place. (straight cut black, I believe? Not sure . . . ) Haven't had Luzianne in decades, can't remember how it compared.

Hot tea: Twinings, loose, two types: Earl Grey, and Gunpowder Green. (Harney's good, I prefer Twinings. I'm probably just being sentimental.)

thx -cpr

I LOVE tea!! One of my favorites is Republic of Tea Rooibos.

Another vote for plain ol' Lipton. I also like their flavored green teas. No specific favorite, I get the assortment pack. Favorite sweet tea is Lipton's diet green tea in the plastic bottle, citrus blend. I can down mass amounts of that stuff. So cold it makes your teeth hurt. Yowza!

I like Oolong tea. I also like the Good Earth brand green tea.

I'm a Darjeeling man, m'self. I like it with a dash of milk or cream and honey for sweetness. My tea actually LOOKS like coffee, once it's made to my liking, and my in-laws have gotten to where they'll sniff anything in a cup when they're up at my house. One time my father-in-law made the mistake of just picking up a mug and just taking a swig from it--BEST SPIT-TAKE EVAR!!! His comment was, "UGGH!! You pay more to drink THAT?!?"

It's pretty funny, actually...I work in a prison, and one of the main forms of "currency" inside is coffee. Guys will (and have) literally killed to get a bag of this nasty, super-cheap crap that they sell in the commissary. The funny thing is, a bag of coffee is about $2 for enough to make maybe twenty cups. A BOX of tea bags is about $5, and you get 100 bags per box. Obviously, math is not a strong suit for these guys...

Occasionally, though, one of the inmates will try to 'negotiate' for something by offering me a shot of coffee...it's always amusing to watch their faces when I explain that I'm simply not interested, never drink the stuff, etc..

:D

Even now, try to explain to people that you don't drink coffee and you get "that look"...But that's been changing lately.
Here in the SF Bay Area there's a growing number of tea-only shops appearing 'round town, but my favorite place for EDT (Every Day Tea) is a place called Peet's.

To make our tea every morning I use a couple of those large Bodum glass coffee presses (you know, measure a coupla tea spoons worth, pour the water in, let it get to the color you like and press the plunger!)

It's kinda of like collecting knives: you start looking for different types and flavors, and suddenly you have a drawerful to play with!

Nothing like a good cuppa. :)

Yerba Mate (any brand) in a traditional gourd and Bmobilla. An acquired tatse, but one worth trying for.

Sun tea or Sweattea (southern style) - Lipton

Usually irish breakfast for hot tea, but regularly use Green, Keemun, oolong, darjeeling, etc. black teas. We usually make three pots of tea a day. We used to have about $100 month tea budget for that tea company place. Now we stick to what's available in grocery store or what we can get loose at the local tea place.

I also used to fix it double strong but in the past couple years just make it "normal".

I absolutely detest any tea with fruit flavorings, berries, stick, twigs and other crap, no milk/cream either thank you.

I've mostly been drinking oolong this year. My favorite is Oriental Beauty, but I also like Tie Guan Yin and Shui Xian. I'm planning on trying some other Wuyi oolongs soon.

One interesting tea I sampled a couple of days ago was a Bai Hao Yinzhen. It was the first white tea I've had and it was super good.

For black teas, I used to love Assam, but the last few I've tried have been kinda boring. Upton has an Earl Grey that I like a lot though.

You should see how much tea we have!!

Years ago (1990) a chain store had Tetley tea for less than $1 a box, limit 5 or so. My dad would go in each day and stock up. We finally counted up and had over 120 boxes on hand. It lasted us for awhile.

Funny thing about tastes. Back then I loved Tetley and thought Lipton had a harsh taste. Almost 20 years later I can't stand the taste of Tetley.

I prefer black teas myself: Golden Monkey and Earl Grey among others. Loose leaf. I admit I've become a snob.

I use a Zarafina Teamaker. It's as much show as go (meaning that it's cool to watch) but it brews a nice cup and it pleases me.

Bagged, I'd choose Twinings Prince of Wales.

But honestly I'll have a cup of tea, any tea, over coffee :barf: every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

I like tea, but I drink all kinds of good drinks. Imagining a life without a good cup of espresso is imagining a kind of hell I'm not interested in.

I mainly live in Portland, OR and that's a great city for both tea and coffee. For coffee we have Stumptown roasters, they make some of the best beans this side of anywhere.

For tea, Tao of Tea http://www.taooftea.com/ is very good. Their loose leaf cans are overpriced, just like most canned teas, but when you can find them in a good grocery store in bulk, they are usually very fresh and much cheaper.

I tend to prefer to the darker, stronger flavors in life, and Tao of Tea has a great pine smoked black tea. If you drink scotch, you'll know what the appeal of a nice dark peaty smokey flavor is, or if you smoke pipes you'll know a good latakia taste when you hear of it. The pine smoked black is very similar. Frankly, just imagine getting some good loose black tea and smoking it in your backyard over pine needles; it won't be quite as refined as Tao's, but it'll be a good guess.

I also like their tuocha's. Supposedly they've incredibly good for you, filled with antioxidants and such. Frankly I just enjoy the flavor, and if it's good for me, well then jolly good. Tuocha's are balls of tea that's been fermented for a while, a very similar fermentation to that which produces good maduro cigar wrapper.

Tao makes a really interesting heavily bergamot infused Earl Grey green tea. It's basically just a nice strong green tea with bergamot. Very unique. If you like Earl Grey (which I love) you just might enjoy trying a new twist.

Frankly some of the Republic of Tea teas ain't too shabby. I like their blackberry sage one, as well as the cardamom cinnamon, and a few others. They are unique, I'll give them that. Right now I have their fair trade Wild Blueberry, and it makes a heck of an iced tea.

Tazo is from Portland, although after they got bought by Starbucks their quality dropped off a little. I'm a big fan nevertheless of some of their blends, off the top of my head I remember their Relaxation to be a good one.

By the way, on the Yerba Matte front, Tao makes a pretty good one for a great loose leaf (by bulk) price. Trader Joes also has a good one for a very very reasonable price. Often I see the same brand, bulked out or in the same package at some of the posh stores for 3x the price of Trader Joes.
